Transferware Inspired Decor
My recent red and white transferware estate sale finds inspired all my decorating this year. {see my great haul in “Thrifting for Vintage Christmas Decor”}. I’ve been loving looking at it in my dining room hutch (see it in my “Vintage Inspired Christmas Home Tour with Traditional Style”).
Years ago I picked up a vintage red and white bed coverlet at an estate sale; think I paid $18! Last year I used it as a tablecloth for my Valentine’s tablescape (“A Very Vintage Valentine’s Tablescape”). This year it seemed the perfect transferware-inspired bedding for our Christmas decorated bedroom.
Plaid Ribbon for Traditional Style
Classic colored plaid ribbon bows with long tails are repeated throughout the room. I put them on the bedposts, on the slim tinsel tree, on the window wreaths…everywhere! I used up the whole bolt of ribbon. Ribbon is a great way to create a theme in your decor.
Old pump organ snowflakes were an easy DIY years ago. They make a big statement on the tree, along with red velvet poinsettias everywhere.
Vintage Collections, the Perfect Accessory
Vintage collections always play a main role in my decorating. The different shapes and textures of my milkglass collection can be enjoyed up high above our linens cupboard. A simple evergreen garland and lights weave around the bases, with fillers of wood slices, snowflake ornaments and poinsettias adding interest up top.

More milkglass pieces line a mantel shelf. Simple fillers of sticks, candy canes and bottle brush trees add interest. A red berry wreath adds to the vibrant color scheme, hung on one of my favorite upcycles (“DIY Repurposed Mirror Frame with Vintage Tin”).
Lights and Twinkle in the Christmas Decorated Bedroom
No Christmas bedroom is finished until you have plenty of lights and twinkle for the holiday season. Faux battery-powered birch wax candles are placed in thrifted candlesticks in every window. Their timers are set to come on when it gets dark and stay on till bedtime. I LOVE not having wires everywhere and not having to manually turn them on and off. {find them HERE).
(they don’t look very bright here because it’s daytime, but they actually look like they’re flickering at night)
A vintage oil lamp trio decorates the top of my dresser (“Gorgeous Green Painted Dresser Makeover”) to celebrate the season of light. A thrifted scarf weaves through to add a cozy texture. I don’t think I’ll ever have enough mini trees; they can be used everywhere!

I did add one plaid scarf to my decor…tied on my grapevine wreath on the front door(there is another decoration inside the wreath also) I will be looking for another plaid scarf too !

Yes, Cheryl. I simply hot glued some faux evergreen scraps onto the piano roll. Thanks!
