Display Your Milk Glass Collection En Masse
Vintage milk glass comes in so many different shapes and textures. Because it’s all one color, it makes a very impressive decor statement to display it en masse. On the top of a wardrobe, filling shelves of a cupboard, or lined down the center of a farm table. The more the merrier shines true with milk glass!
(find small battery clip/stand candles HERE)
Milk glass creates a stunning woodland inspired winter and Christmas display in an open front cupboard. Twinkling lights tucked throughout add drama. See the whole hutch display HERE.
Milk Glass Decorating Ideas with Candlelight
Place faux or real candles in milk glass pieces for a beautiful glow. Epsom salts make a good, white base to tuck in votive candles. So simple, so pretty. Use real candles or tuck battery operated versions into milk glass if you’re using them in a cupboard.
(find wax pinecone flameless candles HERE.)
Add Flowers and Foliage to Milk Glass Vases
Vintage Milk glass is so neutral, you can add whatever flowers and foliage you want to coordinate with your style. It can be used in any season, grouped or alone. In wide mouth vessels, tuck a floral frog in for easier flower arranging. Or scotch tape can be placed in a woven pattern across the top of vessel.
Weave Ribbon Through Milk Glass Detailing
Many vintage milk glass pieces are made with a cutout, detailed edging. For a special touch, weave colorful ribbon through the pattern. Coordinate it with your party or decor.
Display Milk Glass Plates as Wall Decor
Because there’s such a wide variety available, you can create a display from different patterns, or three of the same. Hang on a plate rack or use plate hangers for pretty wall decor.
Add Words to Milk Glass Plates
Since the plates are plain and only have detailing around the edge, add some die cut letters or painted words for a fun twist. Seasonal greetings can simply be taped on or hot glued and taken off later.
Pair With an Accent Color(s) for Seasonal Display
Vintage milk glass can go from season to season depending on what color you pair it with. At Christmas it looks stunning paired with red or green. For Valentine’s, pink is a perfect pairing. In the Spring, aqua blue is a crisp combo, and for Summer it’s as fresh as a daisy paired with yellow. It is truly a chameleon in every season! (And don’t forget to pair it with red and blue for a Patriotic vibe)
Garden Style Milk Glass Decorating Ideas
Faux or living herbs “planted” in vintage milk glass is a fresh combination. Mini topiaries are the perfect way to top off a milk glass vessel, whether it be a pedestal style, or a simple teacup. Planting bulbs like paperwhites in milk glass vessels is a beautiful winter look.
Decorating with Milk Glass, Stacked
Many milk glass types can be stacked for an impressive display. Plate stands can sit on each other to showcase decorated cupcakes for a special event. Stacked pedestal bowls can be filled with water, so a gorgeous floral arrangement can be arranged. There are so many fun styling options when you combine milk glass pieces.
Decorating with milk glass Christmas ideas abound when you stack footed bowls and fill with organic touches. Top off with candlelight or a string of fairy lights for ambiance.
Milk Glass Decorating Ideas for the Table
If you’ve got a collection of vintage milk glass, why not set a whole table with it? Use different pieces for floral arrangements, some for food, and luncheon plates for place settings. You can set your table for any season, because white works with everything!

So many beautiful ideas Lora! I love the pink ribbon laced through the milk glass plates – so pretty! Pinned!
Yes, that’s an easy, fun idea for special parties, Cindy!
Of all the stuff I have can you believe I don’t have a single piece of milkglass!!!!
Yay…a reason to go hunt for some!
I love milk glass & have collected quite a few pieces. I enjoyed seeing all the different ways to display it.
Glad you enjoyed it, Carol!
Loved seeing your MG treasures as I am a MG addict. One of my favorite combos is to mix MG and some cobalt together, then add some red glass for the patriotic holidays–just gorgeous together. I have also put tealight candles into colored glass votive holders, then put them inside a MG piece; the muted pastel colors are just lovely!
I love hobnail white milk glass and have quite a few pieces. Thanks for all of these great ideas for showing them off!

Thanks for the feature, Cindy!
I really enjoyed this post; I am a milk glass addict. Although the common florist containers do not move me, the Westmoreland and Fenton, especially, pieces make me drool. Buying them when they are priced cheaply is the BIG challenge. Occasionally, though, I splurge–heckuva lot cheaper than cigarettes! Another color combo I love is combining my MG with my cobalt glass. Add a bit of ruby glass for patriotic holidays, too!
Those combinations sound beautiful, Kathy! It can be paired with so many other colors!
So many great ideas, makes me want to start collecting milk glass! Have a great week, Donna
