Recent Vintage Thrifted Finds (and how I’m decorating with them)
Love thrifting and vintage shopping? me, too! today I’m sharing my recent finds and how I’m decorating with them.

Do you love thrifting and treasure hunting for vintage finds? It’s one of my favorite ways to spend time! Every once in a while I share what’s come home with me and how I’m decorating with it. Some of you have told me these are your favorite posts! Craving Spring inspired a couple shopping trips lately, so here’s my Recent Vintage Thrifted Finds (and how I’m decorating with them).

Thrifting with a Color Scheme
Have you ever had days where everything you buy seems to be one color? I don’t know if it’s what I’m wearing that day or just seasonal colors that are inspiring me, but I often have days when everything I buy is a certain color!
My last thrift store haul I must have been in the blue mood, because everything I picked up was blue (or aqua). For early Spring, I love to mix blues and greens and add pops of yellow. These colors usher in Spring slowly at my northern home.
This pretty antique blue and white soup tureen was so inexpensive, probably because the top handle had been glued back on. To me, it’s not even noticeable and I’ll probably tie a pretty ribbon around it anyway; I was happy about the 6.99 price!
It’s holding pride of place in my kitchen cupboards next to another blue find…this cute standing bird.
I also scooped up this pretty antique pitcher. It’s a little dressy for my taste, but I could picture it full of peonies this summer!
This tray isn’t vintage, but it came home with me from a shopping trip to my favorite vintage occasional shops. For our last Pinterest Challenge {“Pretty Spring Lantern Centerpiece“}, I realized I didn’t have a woven tray, so I scooped up this interesting-looking one that has a metal accent.
Thrifted Animal Decor Finds
I love adding animal decor accessories to my decorating vignettes. I think they add whimsy, and a bit of life to our home. Like my decor is saying I don’t take it too seriously;) Birds are always a great find, but I love farm animals, too.
This cute iron bird statue was a great deal at a vintage shop (even though it’s not old). I added birdseed and an egg for texture. (Get more ideas in my post “11+ Best Decorative Fillers for Spring”) This pretty blue and white tureen was a thrift store find a couple years ago.
I’ve got plenty of bunnies to decorate for Easter, but I’ve been wanting to find some vintage sheep which actually have a deeper spiritual meaning for the Resurrection. Luckily a dealer at the old fashioned antique store I stopped at had the same idea! She had a whole collection of old sheep toys on display in her booth.
They’re perfect tucked in some moss in my galvanized chicken feeders, next to an antique sheep herding picture that belonged to my parents. A subtle nod to the Easter season in our entry.
Vintage Green Decorating Finds
We’ve had a looong winter with a lot of snow in Minnesota this year and I am craving green in a bad way. We’ll be waiting for snow to melt for at least another month, so I need to make the green happen inside!
The first week of March I went to the monthly occasional vintage shops in the town where I used to own a store. I love saying hi to the other shop owners and dealers and am so inspired with their beautiful, seasonal displays.
This trip I was in the green mood…probably because of St. Patrick’s Day and also because I love green, especially now!
I was so excited to find this old Clover Leaf Dairy milk crate. It was $24, which is a little high for me (yes, I am a bottom feeder;). It needed some reviving. The bottom was super greasy, so I scrubbed it with my favorite degreaser (find it HERE). Once it was thoroughly dry, I brushed on a couple coats of THIS to seal it and bring out the patina. It made the perfect St. Paddy’s Day decor in our entrance with a shamrock plant and another green find…a few vintage metal trays.
I also scooped up this pretty green ivy pottery vase. I knew I had a different shaped one already and thought it would be fun to display the 2 versions together. Some real pussy willows and a faux succulent pick gives them texture on our bedroom mantel shelf.
Vintage Baskets for Easter
During the Easter season, I love to bring out all my handled baskets. Last year I filled the top and inside of our dining room hutch with thrifted baskets (see “Pretty Spring Basket Centerpiece”). This year’s Spring hutch decor is inspired with a French potager vintage garden style. Much more subtle in color with lots of organic texture.
Luckily I spotted a couple of rusty wire handled baskets at the vintage occasional shops. They’re the perfect style to coordinate with my vintage birdcage collection on top of the hutch this Spring. I’m planning on giving them a spray of THIS to seal in their patina and bring out the rusty beauty even more. But of course I was too impatient and popped them in my display right when they came home!
See the whole hutch display in “Hutch Decorating Ideas for Spring”.

I’m not sure why I see those feeders called Chicken feeders. We always used the long feeders that sit on floor. The feeder you have is what we use for rabbits. I think I may utilize for my flowers now! Thx for the idea.
Good to know, Theresa! Guess you can tell I didn’t grow up on the farm;) I love them for decor, though!
What a fun post, Lora! I am in love with your blue and white tureens, especially the one you snagged for $6.99! And the clover leaf crate. So many fabulous finds, my friend.
Thanks, Kim! Hunting down vintage finds never gets old:)
Oh my….the sheep display is BEAUTIFUL! The meaning, the rustiness, the chippy paint, everything!! I’ve been drawn to pink at the thrift stores so I get the color thing! AND that box….worth every penny of the $24! You are so much like me and I just splurged on a box for $25….but we will enjoy our boxes for years! Thanks for decorating and sharing with all of us so I can see I am not alone! You are my fav!
Thanks so much for your kind words, Michelle! I’ll probably get in the pink mood next;)
I love those wire baskets!!!! Now I’m on a mission to find one!
Good luck, Jennifer!
Thank you Lora, love all your finds and the way you use them in your home. So many pretty dishes and wire baskets.
Thanks, Marlene!
So many beautiful finds. I love thrifting. You find the best stuff. Hugs to you.
I have to hold myself back, I find so many things I love! Don’t want to turn into a hoarder:(
Goes to show what I know. I just knew you were going to put moss and eggs in those rusty wire baskets. LOL! Love everything you found and how you displayed it. I think you still live in the best part of the country for vintage shopping. It blows me away! Happy spring!
I had to seriously hold myself back from putting moss and eggs in them, Cindy! But I wanted to enjoy every architectural inch of them and not cover anything up;) Yes, I could pretty much find a cartload every day in my area; need to hold myself back!
I LOVE Them all!!! You scored with some amazing finds, Lora!!! Such fun, pretty things for Spring! (if it ever decides to show up 🙂
Pinned!
Thanks, Rachel! Yes, I’m totally faking Spring inside…and will be for awhile I think:(
Love your “clover crate” and all the little green trays and glassware. You really have a special knack for decorating and using these old pieces. The wire baskets are to die for! I love your blog!
Aw, thanks, Barb; I appreciate that! So glad you’re enjoying it!
You found some great pieces Lora! I love the flow blue pitcher on the tray. Or at least I think its a flow blue piece! Pinned 😊
You’re probably correct, Cindy! I don’t have all my antique dealer terminology down, that’s for sure!
