Pretty Spring Basket Centerpiece
How do you make a Spring centerpiece with a basket? This DIY pretty Spring basket centerpiece is the perfect Spring table decor

Spring has taken it’s sweet time arriving here, but that’s not stopping me from making it happen inside! Luckily, the potted bulb plants are plentiful at the stores right now, which is a great excuse to enjoy a pretty centerpiece. Here’s how to easily make a Pretty Spring Basket Centerpiece you can enjoy for weeks.
I’m joining my Pinterest Challenge friends today, headed up by Cindy at County Road 407. Each month a group of creative bloggers style around an inspiration pic, giving our designs our own flair. If you’re visiting from DIY Beautify, welcome! I’m sure you enjoyed Cindy’s pretty DIY floral basket; she is so creative.
Pinterest Challenge Inspiration Photo
This month’s inspiration pic comes from Emily at Le Cultivateur. Everything Emily does is gorgeous, and she’s a vintage lover like me; definitely check out her blog. This picture is a lovely Spring basket centerpiece.
Styling details I noticed:
- oblong basket
- potted bulb flowers
- vines
- candlelight
- Spring eggs
- nests
- clay pots
- foundational element
- silver (on candlesticks)
Luckily, I had styled almost the same arrangement for my Easter table! Great minds must think alike;) With a few changes, my arrangement can be enjoyed for weeks. Here’s how to create one easily for your home.

Line A Basket with Plastic
Before you start making the pretty, protect your table and the basket by lining it with plastic. If you’ve got the right size plastic liner, great. Otherwise grab some plastic wrap or a few plastic bags and line the inside.
Then you’ll be able to water your plants without damaging anything underneath.
Buy Spring Potted Bulbs
I’ve fallen hard for the flowers available at Trader Joe’s recently. They make my inner florist so happy and have been great medicine for our slow-to-arrive Spring.
Before Easter I picked up potted tulips, a hyacinth, a couple roses and a few cute kalanchoes in clay pots. The ugly paper sleeves went into the garbage quickly and I added the plants to my plastic-lined basket.
Odd numbers are always good when you’re designing. I placed the hyacinth in the middle, tulips on either end and roses in between (Five main flowers). Four kalanchoes filled in the rest of the spaces.
Add Pretty Spring Textures
To cover the black plastic pots and the dirt, I added a variety of mossy textures. In the inspo pic, Emily had some type of sticks. I inserted fresh pussy willows for another Spring texture. They also help hold up the hyacinth flowers as they start flopping.
Nests and eggs are tucked in here and there wherever there was an open spot.
Place Centerpiece on a Foundation
Just like in Emily’s photo, I always place my centerpieces on a foundation. It anchors the table decor. To play off of her silver candlesticks and bring in another texture, I used an old galvanized find; I don’t really even know what it is, but I love it’s patina!
Finish Off with Light and Extras
If you visit Emily’s full post, you’ll see she surrounded her centerpiece with some extra accessories. She’s got a stack of plates, a bunny and taper candles. Easter is over, so I used a chubby bird instead. I placed a nest and eggs atop a stack of green depression ware plates. I also used a grapevine basket as a nod to her grapevine handle.
These battery powered tapered candles are my new favorite thing. Seriously, they’re so easy to use, I flick them on almost every night! They’re made of wax, so they feel like a real candle and their spongy flames look close to a real flicker. The simple button on the bottom is easy to push; they even have a remote control.
And the best part? You can enjoy them in a glass cupboard or on a wood hutch.

Enjoy Your Spring Centerpiece
I’m going to enjoy this centerpiece for weeks! As the flowers fade, I can swap out new pots easily.
I’m just thrilled with how our dining room has come together! About a year ago there was a hole in the ceiling. Mr. Fix-it added beadboard and crown molding so I love to look up. I scored basically new upholstered dining chairs on Marketplace, and just gave this hutch a vintage makeover {“DIY Hutch Makeover Tips (with Vintage Style)“}.
I found the chandelier in a curbside pile and Mr. Fix-it rewired it. I love how it looks in our old farmhouse.
This pretty centerpiece finishes off the Springy room and can be enjoyed from the whole main floor. You can see the Spring decorated kitchen in “A Charming Spring Kitchen with Cottage Style”. The Spring living room can be seen in “Decorating the Spring Mantel (with vintage and birds)”.
Starting with a basket for a Spring centerpiece is a great idea. And using plentiful potted bulb plants from the store will last longer than cut flowers. Hope you’re inspired to style your own Spring centerpiece! For more creative ideas, visit Thistle Key Lane next; Michelle made a pretty wall arrangement with her basket.

So pretty for spring! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!
Your welcome!
Trader Joe’s & your ideas = Fabulous! You’ve outdone yourself yet again 😊 The price point at Trader Joe’s plus the selection makes it hard not to buy all the (blooming) things every time I’m there. Thanks for showing another way to display all the loveliness! Those of us in Minnesota have to make our own Spring this year🌺
I go there for the flowers and then end up getting some groceries! Yes, we need all the help we can get this year:( Maybe a good church sale would put a smile on my face;) Thanks, Shelly; always enjoy hearing from you!
Lora, I really love how you’ve arranged your spring basket!! The hyacinths are soooo pretty with their ethereal stalks of blooms and the soft pink tulips and little eggs really add a lot of beauty. The chubby bird is cute and I totally forgot I have a bit white cement bird I could have used. Might have to reshoot and make another post… 🙂
Enjoy your lovely table and happy spring to you,
Barb 🙂
Thanks so much, Barbara!
Lora, love your combination of flowers and colors. The pink tulips are so pretty. Love all the little details you included in your basket. Yes, Trader Joe’s is great! I know you’ll enjoy your pretty centerpiece.
I’m absolutely loving it, Carol! Especially since Spring can’t seem to show it’s face around here yet:(
Everything is sooo pretty!! You always have those cute little roses. I need to get some!! Love all the baskets above your hutch too!
Thank you! It was quite fun decorating that “new” hutch!
Your basket is beautiful. I love the bird rather than bunny/chick to extend it’s springtime decor! Your hutch with all the pastel-spring dishes is gorgeous!
Yes, birds have a little more lasting power than bunnies, but bunnies still work for garden decor;)
Trader Joe’s did you right with these gorgeous blooms Lora. Your basket is beautifully arranged and looks right at home in your lovely dining room. The hutch looks amazing too!
Thanks so much, Michelle! I’m loving that “new” hutch:)
Love This! You have inspired some ideas for a Mother’s Day gift. It’s always a treat when you are in my emailbox ☺️ (I know, a bit of a funny visual there…) If I remember to take a picture, I’ll send it to you. 🤞🏼
So glad you were inspired, Beth! Yes, I’d love to see!
Wow!!!!!! I love everything about your centerpiece. Each element is my favorite, if that is possible. I love pussy willows. Not only do they stand up, they add an element of texture. I love that things are potted and can be moved around, if necessary. The combination of flowers is amazing. I have learned a lot from your presentation. Thank you very much!!!!!!
Yes, those pussy willows just dry and still look pretty! Glad you enjoyed it:)
Oh, this is truly gorgeous. I LOVE the green depression glass plates. Bravo!
I appreciate that, Laura!
Your basket is beautiful Lora! I’m so jealous you found potted bulbs, ours are long over here! You created such an inspiring table!
And our outside ones aren’t even close to starting here:( Different ends of the country, indeed!
I love your idea for this spring center piece. I also love your dining area with all the light coming in through those windows, makes for a beautiful place to enjoy a meal.
I do enjoy the sunlight streaming in the bay window!
I love how your dining room turned out too! The hutch with all of the bright colors looks so happy and creating that fantastic centerpiece is over the top! Even the saddest of days would be brighter in there and bring joy to anyone. When I looked for flowers for my basket, I didn’t see potted tulips or those little pink and yellow flowers you have either. I WANT THEM!!!
Thank you for joining in again this month. I always adore what you do. pinned
I can’t get enough flowers right now! Thank goodness for my new favorite store, Trader Joe’s:) Thanks, Cindy!
Hi Lora,
I think your arrangement is awesome. So refreshingly spring, as we would like it to be. It’s amazing how using similar ideas, one creates and makes it their own. I always love looking at your posts.
Thanks so much, Sandy; glad you’re inspired!
I LOVE it, Lora!!! All of the different textures and colors in your display are so lovely. I love how you anchored the piece too by using a base! Amazing!!
Thanks, Rachel! Just the burst of Spring needed this year!
The picture of your centerpiece with your China hutch in the background … loveliness embodied
I’ll be studying to do something similar in my home
Thanks, Gail! Glad it inspired you!
Years ago I would decorate the baskets up for all the holidays and place on dining room table, but now, whenever I purchase baskets, I use them as gift baskets for family, friends, neighbors older senior shutins, baby showers, birthdays, etc. Mostly filled with homemade items.
Your Spring Centerpiece is beautiful by the way.
Those are all excellent ways to use baskets, Colleen! Thanks for the ideas:)
Lora,
Your basket is just beautiful. I love the tray to anchor the arrangement. Love all the beautiful blooms.
Thanks, Rachel!
