Decorating with Globes for Christmas
There’s a lot of globe lovers out there in the vintage home decor world! What better way to enjoy your collection than to center your Christmas decor around their beauty? “Joy to the World” is one of the best known Christmas carols, so it only seems natural to join these 2 favorites together for a holiday decorating theme! Last week I began sharing my Christmas song themed kitchen {“Christmas Song Decorating in the Kitchen”}. Today I’ll share my Joy to the World themed kitchen sitting area, so you can see how fun Decorating with Globes for Christmas can be!
To make your theme really obvious, open an old hymnbook or songbook to your theme song, and work it into your globe vignette. Extra points if you have a vintage hymnbook! You can simply lay the old music like I have here, or use a plate rack or easel to display it.
Use the colors of your globes to harmonize your decorations. My globes are blues and golds, so I used this vintage tinsel garland for sparkle and texture. In addition to the old hymnal, I tied chipboard letters to a simple green wreath with twine spelling out the Joy to the World theme.
Vintage music sheets were simply taped into cones to imitate a horn, announcing Jesus’ birth. I had old music origami flowers {“Origami Flower How-To Make and How-To Use”} that I’d made a while ago. I tucked them all into the spaces between pinecones and greens in my vintage chicken feeder. The texture of paper adds to the appeal of the globes and is a fresh contrast to the natural elements.
Battery operated glitter strands are tucked in around the wreath and throughout the chicken feeder. If I had one more, I would have tucked it through the globes, also. But instead I just added an old light fixture and a candle for nighttime glow.
To harmonize with the round shape of the globes, I used round lights on my skinny alpine tree in white and blue. I also used white and green ornaments to continue the earthy color scheme. More music rolls, some glittery sprays and the glue and gold garland fill out the tree.
I think the rounded arms and legs on the chair and loveseat are what inspired me to use the globes on our industrial coffee table {“From Vintage Roof Rack to Cool Coffee Table”}. The colors on the feedsack seat covers {“Adding Vintage Feedsacks to New Furniture Seats“} compliment the colors of the globes nicely. A blue and green plaid blanket adds texture and coziness to the seating, and some stenciled pillows bring Christmas cheer.
This is one of my favorite spots in our home to sit, because I am right next to the sliding glass door and can feel like I’m outside, even in the winter. I love watching the birds, and my doggie is entertained by the squirrels stealing birdseed;) My collection of everything vintage green fills the cupboard we created from old doors {“Kitchen Cupboard with Antique Doors”}. Green is my favorite color, and I love this little collection throughout the year; it’s always in season.
Being able to see the “Bedspring Shiny Brite Tree, Aqua Version” goes right along with the Joy to the World globe decor, doesn’t it?
It’s so fun to decorate with your collections at Christmas time! I hope you got inspired to get your globe collection together and use them for a special Christmas spot. By simply adding Christmas decor to the pieces you’ve been finding on your treasure hunts all year long, your home will be a unique reflection of you! I hope you enjoyed this peek into one of my favorite spots in my home. Decorating with Globes for Christmas is the perfect partner for celebrating the Joy to the World carol!
