Enjoy a tour of this Nostalgic Christmas Decorated kitchen. Vintage vignettes, retro charm and upcycled and repurposed thrifted finds are sure to inspire your holiday Decorating ideas.
Ho, ho, ho, it’s Christmas time! And Santa and his treats have arrived in my kitchen. This year’s Christmas decorated kitchen has a nostalgic, retro vintage vibe that’s just plain fun. Pour yourself a cup of peppermint hot cocoa and enjoy a tour of our Retro Nostalgic Christmas Kitchen!
Today I’m joining 8 blogger friends for a Very Merry Christmas Home Tour! Thanks to the talented Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home for hosting us. If you’re visiting from Calypso in the Country, I’m sure you loved Shelly’s beautiful Holiday decor; she has a lovely home. All the rest of the home tours will be linked at the end; hope you can enjoy them all!

(sad to say it was a horribly gloomy day to take pics. And unfortunately no snow yet to brighten up my house. Sorry for the grainy pics!)
The Entry
Our back door is our main entry, in true old farmhouse fashion. The only person that comes to the front door is the Amazon delivery person. So when I designed our kitchen, I planned a 1/2 wall to disguise my kitchen sink. It creates a cozy back hall where I can add seasonal decor for a welcoming hello.
Last Spring’s curbside find antique chair has been a great addition to this space. I upholstered the seat with an old burlap coffee sack I scored at a church sale. A vintage red tablecloth is draped over the back. Retro vintage linens became one of the themes of this year’s Christmas kitchen.
We placed a high shelf in the entry so I could display seasonal decor. This year old ornament boxes join nostalgic family wood carvings. The crib spring is where we clip our Christmas cards so all can look through them as they enter.
We recently upcycled my childhood wagon into a cute display shelf. As soon as we got it done, I popped cute thrifted Christmas decorations inside. {“DIY Upcycled Old Wagon Shelf with Nostalgic Style”} I’m still hoping to hang the antique red screen door back here before Christmas. I got it sanded and scrubbed up. Just need to get a coat of poly on it. You can see it in “Reviving Red Vintage Finds for Christmas”. Christmas decorating is never done here;)
Upcycled Vintage Linens Curtains in the Kitchen
I had the vision of crafting cute cafe curtains out of vintage tablecloths and linens for over the kitchen sink. The other night I got crafty and started cutting some of my linens stash. The Christmas curtains turned out cuter than they were in my head:) I’ve got a second set almost done for the guest bath off the kitchen, too. Do you get crafty at Christmas, too?
I had so many vintage Christmas pins, I decided to make a Christmas version of my popular “Nostalgic DIY Handkerchief Wreath with Vintage Pins”. It pairs perfectly with the upcycled Christmas curtains over the kitchen sink. Talk about festive!
Our open kitchen shelves are a constant revolving seasonal display of dishes. I’m a dish-a-holic, and open shelves are my favorite for enjoying all my vintage (and new) finds!
Across from the sink, I designed a little nook to stand at the stove, so I could be out of the pathway. I always hang a festive wreath on the exhaust hood, but I ran out of batteries for the cute twinkle light:( Time to grab a couple AA and AAA multipacks for all my festive lighting throughout my house!
Farmhouse Kitchen Built Ins
On the long wall in the kitchen, I designed glass front cupboards to look like an old built in. It’s one of my favorite places to style seasonal displays with all my vintage finds. I can enjoy all the pretty, but still have clean countertops. I love looking at this scene when I’m cooking.
A shopping trip to my favorite shops a couple weeks ago {“Favorite Vintage Shops Decorated for Christmas”} found me inspired by the cute retro Santas. I never do Santa and Snowmen; I’m more of a nature lover in my decor-deer, animals, bugs. But Santa’s smiling face and jolly red suit felt happy this year. I’ve been loving the glow shining out of this mini blow mold high up on the shelf. The little Santa bank came home with me, too:)
The cupboard shelves are filled with vintage kitchen finds: my ever-expanding old scale collection, plus a recent green mixing bowl collection and several old wooden food boxes. Different fillers add texture. Get ideas in “35+ Decorative Bowl Filler Ideas for Beautiful (& easy) Winter and Christmas Decor”. Little battery powered faceted candles add flicker anywhere. They can be clipped, suctioned or stuck into anything. Definitely a decorator’s secret sauce (and a great gift). (You can find them HERE)
A little Santa vinyl decoration makes a cute cubby centerpiece on the island. I filled it with cute Christmas smalls, so they could be enjoyed while sitting on the stools. It also doesn’t take up much space, so there’s plenty of room for yummy holiday foods.
Cozy Christmas Kitchen Sitting Area
The favorite place to be in our home is in our cozy kitchen sitting area. It’s right next to our sliding glass door, and is the perfect place to watch the entertaining birds and squirrels. For Christmas, I switch up the furniture so the love seat faces out, which welcomes nature in all the more.
Hopefully we’ll get some snow to transform this view into a winter wonderland! I’m hoping to place my curbside find big wooden church on that metal shelf. Mr. Fix-it needs to close the doors and open spaces so the local wildlife won’t want to become residents. You can see my amazing big church curbside find last Spring (along with all kinds of other free finds) in “Recent Vintage Thrifted Finds (and my plans for them).”
This year’s Christmas kitchen tree is filled with vintage Shiny Brite ornaments for a sparkly, festive vibe. Another vintage fabric is used as a tree skirt. A poinsettia tablecloth is draped over the loveseat back for another punch of vibrant retro pattern.
The coffee table centerpiece is a collage of fresh plants and Christmas touches. A whimsical vintage fabric runner sets it all off. LED lights that are turned on by a touch add a cozy ambiance at night. They can be 2 different heights and are great to add to a table setting also. (Find the LED lamps here)
Built in glass front bookshelves are filled with vintage milk glass. Different fillers add a Christmas flair for easy display. Up on top a collection of old rolling pins in a wooden bucket become the perfect kitchen vintage vignette.
(yes, the wax birch candles will look so much better with batteries in them! They take 2 AAA’s. I love sticking these anywhere and everywhere. They’re in my windows in thrifted brass candlesticks for Christmas, too. Find them HERE)
Above the cozy chair is our upcycled vintage ceiling tin awning. It’s paired with an old wooden oven floor guard and a green metal chicken feeder. Definitely one of my favorite views in my house and the most fun place to create seasonal vignettes. A forest of rustic handcrafted wooden trees join bottle brush trees in old spindles with greenery and lights. The bird watching theme is perfect on the thrifted sign.

Girlfriend! Your home and every little detail with all of your vintage treasures is so stinkin’ cute! I nearly gasped at the kitchen curtains and that wreath hanging above it! You always inspire me (and make me a little jealous). One of these days, I’m going to find the golden ticket and knock on your door for a tour. 😉 Hope your Christmas is the best one yet. pinned
I’d love that kind of surprise, Cindy! But you’d have to give me a warning, so I could stuff all the piles into a closet before you come;)
Lora you know I love all of your vintage and nostalgic Christmas so much! I can’t wait to find a spot for my blow mold Santa and snowman now after seeing your post. I love your little tree with the Shiny Brites and all of your Christmas linens are so pretty and the cafe curains you made are adorable. Your built-ins are so original looking and styled perfectly.
I hope you get a beautiful white Christmas to enjoy that view out your patio doors and all the treasure you have lovingly collected and displayed.

We did get a sprinkling of snow this week; yay! Everything is so much prettier with a fresh blanket of snow. Thanks, Amber!
Oh, my I could go through all of this 3 or 4 times. There’s so much about it I truly love. You did a wonderful job of creating a wonderland of Christmas. Thanks for this tour.
Thanks, Marlene! We will be enjoying it a lot as we cook all the Christmas treats:)
Lora I am completely SMITTEN by your charming cafe curtains. The hanky wreath is one I might need to incorporate into my sewing room decor. You’ve outdone yourself again!
Thanks, Laura! It went slow this year, because I’ve been sick; happy to have it done, so we can enjoy it. Still working on another version of curtains for the guest bathroom, off the kitchen:)
Oh goodness, Lora! I don’t know how you do it…it’s all so pretty!! I love how you placed little candles and lights everywhere to light up dark spaces. The cute cafe curtain idea is genius….that turned out SO cute!! And, of course all of the Shiny Brites are just lovely.
Such a merry kitchen!
Thanks, Rachel! Love those little faceted candles, because they can all be turned on and off with the remote; so handy!
So festive! Those tablecloth curtains over the sink are so stinking cute! I’ll be over for some coffee and a muffin to enjoy in your cute kitchen some morning before all the littles are home for break 😉
Definitely-I’ll give you a IRL tour if you bring me a peppermint mocha;)
Lora, that ceiling tin awning is such a fun piece! What a great idea to use it in that space. I always love seeing what unique pieces you find. You have such a knack for blending vintage accessories into your home. Such a beautiful Christmas tour – and I love the ornaments on your sparkly tree! Merry Christmas!
Shelley
Thanks, Shelley! Fun to blog hop with you again; it’s been awhile!
Lora, your kitchen is so fun and festive with all of your vintage finds. My favorite is the tree full of the colorful Shiny Brite ornaments, but I love it all! Have a wonderful Christmas!
Glad you enjoyed it, Angie! I almost wasn’t going to do any Shiny Brites this year and go natural and old fashioned, but then decided I wanted to see a little shine:)
