Welcome to Our Vintage Farmhouse
If you’re new here, let me introduce myself and our home to you! I’m Lora, a vintage junk collector who loves bringing beauty to anything and everything. My favorite place to treasure hunt is the curb; my home is filled with my trash to treasure finds and memories. Mr. Fix-it and I have been working on this old house and couple acres for 23 years now…and it’s still not done! I am a collector of…a lot, and love to seasonally switch up our home to enjoy all of it. I love upcycling and repurposing old things and bringing new life to the lost and forgotten.

Get ready for lots of pictures. Our home isn’t big, but I love to decorate every nook and cranny for each new season. And this Spring I’m definitely feeling the nostalgic cottage vibes:)
Cottage Spring Decor in the Kitchen
Only the Amazon man comes to our front door; our back door is our main entry. It’s much cuter than the front anyway;) As you walk in, you’ll be greeted in our kitchen-the heart of our home. Years ago we gutted it, tore down walls and completely redesigned it by ourselves. I design, Mr. Fix-it engineers and builds what I dream up. I’m still madly in love with my kitchen…and he’s pretty great, too;)

The entryway is small and very full with jackets for every season right now. Last weekend we had a blizzard with a foot+ of snow; this weekend 70 is forecasted. Yes, MN Springs keeps you in plenty of jackets!
If you don’t fall down the stairs to our unfinished basement (where I store all my off season decor), you can admire my awesome red Victorian screen door and my upcycled childhood wagon shelf. I don’t really use the color red in the Spring, but know summer will be here before you know it. So I added Springy decor to the red…which I know many people do…tulips, right?

We are currently in sapping season here; we boil our own maple syrup because we have so many sugar maple trees on our property. Everyone gets involved and friends and family stop over to hang around the cooker. It’s a fun way to close out winter and start Spring!
I was trying to work around the 2+ dozen pints of syrup on the counter, but finally gave up and just turned them into their own vignette! We’ve boiled 2, 15 hour days already and will probably do one or two more this weekend, if not more.

Did I tell you I’m a vintage collector? My latest obsession has been aqua and green ribbed mixing bowls. Probably because about a year ago I started milling my own grains into flour. It’s been a game changer for amazing flavor and health benefits! To find out more, read “Why I Started Milling My Own Flour” and be as amazed as I was about the history of flour in the U.S. And how healthy baking with freshly made flour can be (not to mention delicious).

Cozy Kitchen Seating Area
There’s a glass slider door at the end of our kitchen where I created a cozy kitchen seating area. It’s the most popular place in the house. For winter I face it to look out, so we can enjoy watching the birds; live entertainment!
A thrift store vintage floral quilt inspired the colorful, artsy Spring vibe, along with a collection of amateur painted art. It’s so cozy and pretty, I could sit here all day:)

An old tool caddy got a refresh and is the perfect centerpiece for the island. I filled it with pretty vintage green finds and bright yellow stripe napkins. I love to have the little wicker battery lamp on at night for glow.

Let’s move into the dining room…
Spring Shelf Decor Ideas in the Dining Room
Our dining room is space challenged, but we just switched down to a smaller table that we found on the curb! Happy Girl got our old, larger one for her “new” 1924 house. This oval version fits in our space much better. I’ll be refinishing it this summer to give it a fresh look.

The hutch is a FB marketplace find a couple years ago. I love the combo of storage and display it provides in this room. It’s usually one of the first places I start decorating for the new season.
I’m fairly new to the ironstone craze, but have realized white ironstone platters really brighten up the back shelves of this hutch. I can add any colors in front for the season. Since we still have snow and Easter is early this year, my Spring color palette is white with bright pastels in front. Notice all the pops of color with white behind? It’s like flowers popping up through the snow.

I tucked mini topiaries here and there for that English cottage vibe. Mini Easter baskets with eggs, bunnies and little tulips are scattered, too. I’m featuring my ironstone soup tureen collection; I seem to have picked up quite a few the last couple of years. Think I’m drawn to their curves and details.
After a snowy winter, I’m craving green everywhere! I fill old vessels with mounds of faux ferns. I’ve been to Trader Joe’s every week for a fresh flower and plant fix, to tide me over till gardening season.

The Easter table’s not set yet, but I am happy mixing green gingham and a floral for the linens. I’ll for sure be using my last year’s Target green cabbage ware, probably with our wedding china (seen on the floral candleholders). A simple handled basket with a kalanchoe plant and eggs is easy, and of course a couple bunnies.

Mr. Fix-it and I love singing in our church’s choir. Easter is a special time of year to celebrate our Lord’s resurrection, and we love to get filled up with beautiful music of the season! Our antique piano is treated to a music-themed vignette with Spring flowers for the season, too!

If you’re still with me…let’s move into the living room:
Spring Decorated Living Room with Cottage Style
My globe collection tops the green lockers. I love the industrial style these lockers bring to our home, and they are a great place to store so many things! You’ll notice my vintage suitcase collection here and there; I use them many different ways, in many rooms.

Spring Decorated Mantel
I wanted the same white background with pops of bright pastels theme to be in the living room. I recently got a huge gorgeous book of vintage botanical images (you could see it behind my kitchen tool caddycenterpiece). I carefully used an exacto knife to cut out my favorite images of Spring flowers. I used clothes pins and simply clipped them to my favorite green bedspring I hang above the mantel. I’m obsessed:)

Two years ago I picked up this amazing pair of oak cabinets in a curbside pile. I’ve been junking at these neighborhood clean up days for 20 years and these might be my best find. They fit perfectly on either side of our fireplace and look like they’ve always been there.
Next week the junking season begins!!! Follow my IG and see what I find. You can see my past adventures on my “junking” highlight circle. Can’t wait to see what I find this year!
My milk glass collection filled these cabinets for winter. I simply added my old/new cabbage ware collection and faux veggies for a Beatrix Potter, Mr. MacGregor’s garden vibe.

On top of the cupboard are more classic Spring accessories: moss bunnies, an ivy topiary, a vintage birdcage and eggs.

The rest of our living room is filled with cozy thrifted afghans and pretty Spring pillow covers. The coffee table has a classic bunny, Easter eggs and pretty Spring branches.

Hope you enjoyed the tour! I loved sharing our cozy home with you (especially since I didn’t have to clean the bathrooms;)

Lora you have delighted my heart! This is such a truly enchanting tour. I am going to feature you next week week on Friday Favorites.
Thanks so much, Laura!
Wow, Lora! So charming! Every space is styled with the sweetest vignettes. I love all of your collections and am in awe of all your beautiful finds. Thank you for a lovely tour!
Thanks, Missy:)
Goodness me – your home was made for spring. Actually, it’s YOU that turns your home into the cutest house in blog land. I love everything about it: the colors, the quilts, the unique wall art, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. And I’ve never thought to look for small baskets, but I am now! And the vintage fur rabbit with a sack on its back is worth becoming homeless for! Thank you for sharing so many pics. I probably pinned 75% of them. 😉 Happy spring!
Thanks, Friend!
Lora, you have knocked it out of the park with this post! My goodness, I don’t even know where to start. Every picture stole my heart with all your collections and perfectly styled whimsical vignettes. I always love your seasonal decor, but I think this spring decor might be my favorite yet. Be still my vintage and gardening loving heart!
Happy spring, dear friend!
You’re so sweet, Amber; thanks for your kind words:)
Lora, this is stunning. You have SUCH a good eye! I love that your home looks like people actually live there, which makes it especially stunning and inviting. There is such personality in every single space you decorate – I especially love those botanical prints you cut out and hung! The effect is gorgeous. Your ideas are so unique and personal, which is what I think makes a home extra special. Thank you for sharing a part of yourself with us!
I appreciate that so much, Kate;) Yes people do actually live here, and am glad you felt the welcome, too!
You have so many amazing treasures and everything looks ready for spring! Can we just talk about the syrup? If I was close, I’d be knocking on your door! Hope you have a wonderful spring season. 🙂
We have got a LOT of syrup right now, after 3 solid days of boiling. Think we’re winding down the season; love it, but happy when it’s done, too;)
I love your home and the rooms are decorated so beautiful for Spring. You have a wonderful way of decorating to make your home warm and inviting. Enjoy your blessed home, I certainly did.
So glad you enjoyed it, Marlene! Happy Spring:)
I could spend all day looking at your amazing vintage/antique finds. You have some delightful collections. What you did with the space off your kitchen (which I assume many use as a breakfast nook) is genius, and I can see why it’s a favorite place to hang out. I’d be there all day/every day! We appreciate you sharing your lovely home and stunning spring decor with us.
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks, Lynn:)
Lora ~ Your kitchen cupboard is amazing my friend! I cannot believe you make your own maple syrup, sounds delish ~ how can I get my hands on some? lol. I love your curated collections that feel so loved and thoughtful. You sure know how to bring old things new life and display them in such a way that feels like they’ve always been there. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home and ideas. This spring blog hop was fun to do with you my friend! Happy Spring!
Thanks, Melanie! It was fun to join you again:)
I just love the hanging botanicals!! I was at a vintage bazaar last Fall and one of the booths had a gallery wall of botanical prints on clipboards, and it was so cool!
Your home looks so pretty for Spring!
Thanks, Jennifer! I needed to enjoy looking at those beautiful illustrations every day, or I’d be sitting leafing through the book 24-7;)
Lora, so many beautiful vignettes in your home. Everything looks beautiful for the spring. I love how you added prints to an old crib spring and hung it. A nice touch!
Thanks, Tammy! So fun to enjoy all the beautiful homes:)
I love it all Lora. Don’t be surprised if the cabbage plates are missing. It was me hopping in and bringing them home.
Gorgeous spring goodies.
Cindy
Thanks, Cindy! My old/new collection has grown the past couple of years;)

I’m so glad to hear that you’re inspired to be creative, Patricia! Happy Spring:)
Your home is so beautiful, Lora, I don’t know which picture to pin first. I love that you guys have sugar maples on your property and make it an end of the season event. It’s such a special way to welcome Spring. As always, your vignettes stop me in my tracks, lady. They make me want to bring over some pie and cozy up. Wishing you a warm and happy Spring season. Sending lots of hugs, CoCo
Thanks, CoCo! Have missed joining you on these hops:)
