Christmas Mantel with Bottle Brush Trees
The Christmas Mantel should be the canvas where you bring your decorating theme for the year all together. For many years our big T.V. has held me back from enjoying this fun space to decorate. But this year the T.V got kicked to the curb, or more specifically a lower table. I could finally have some serious decorating fun with our mantel! Before we say goodbye to the season, I want to share our Christmas Mantel with Bottle Brush Trees with you.

For your Christmas Mantel, Start with the Backdrop
The backdrop of this tall space consisted of 3 repurposed vintage dresser mirrors. Each of them have refreshed finishes with stain or paint and have painted chalkboards inside. I liked the addition of the stencil accent so much when I created my hot chocolate station board (“Create a Vintage Farmhouse-Styled Hot Chocolate Bar”), I decided the others needed that treatment, too.
Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary stencils for this project. All opinions about their products are my own. Note: their prices are in Canadian currency; see their conversion link to adjust.
The 2 stained mirror frames each got a border made with Old Sign Stencils Grain Sack Stripes (you can find them HERE). The tall, straight one got simple white stripes, the other got aqua stripes. Along with the green and white Large Buffalo Check on the white mirror frame (you can find it HERE), I’ll be able to use these throughout the seasons.
Accent with Featured Accessories
Each repurposed mirror frame was treated to one special accessory. A vintage player piano roll and an old clock were recent finds (“Latest Vintage Finds and How to Refresh Them”) along with a classic wreath with fairy lights. On the mantle, my latest “Repurposed Vintage Glass Light Shade Pedestal Bowl”, along with a tarnished silver cake plate brought the featured pieces to the magic uneven number of 5.
Fill In with Bottle Brush Trees and Shiny Brites
My bottlebrush tree collection has been growing over the last couple of years. None of them are vintage, they’re all from target, pier 1 or Joann’s. But the look is definitely vintage, and I love the varied colors and textures. The tall skinny bottlebrush trees work perfectly in front of the tall, elegant repurposed mirror frames.
Vintage metallic garland strands are scattered at the base and draped, along with vintage corsages and old white reindeer figures. Reindeer were definitely a theme for me this year too, as I created the “DIY Feedsack Stenciled Reindeer Pillow”.
My vintage Shiny Brite collection was celebrated, too. The flocked Christmas tree was simply adorned with the colorful collection, and fake, pretty stenciled gifts stood in until the real ones could get wrapped! {“Christmas Gift Wrapping Ideas with Old Sign Stencils”}
My only tree topper got pride of place hanging upside down and the string of fair lights lit up the pedestal bowl of Shiny Brites so beautifully!

This year’s Christmas decor was limited and simple, yet pretty. Each year I name the theme, so I can remember what I did. This year is going to remembered as “Simple & Pretty” Christmas. Our home has been in bare bones mode for awhile, getting ready to sell, so not having anything on the walls and limited pieces of furniture cramped the possibilities. “Simple & Pretty” decor was just perfect this year!
Hope you enjoyed this Christmas Mantel with Bottle Brush Trees. Another way to enjoy your vintage and repurposed pieces!
