Vintage Americana Patriotic Tablescape Ideas
Get Patriotic Table setting Ideas using vintage Americana, including enamelware, old tins, and textiles. Red, white, and blue for Memorial day, fourth of july and labor day tablescapes
Summer is starting and it’s time to pull out the old red, white, and blue! Patriotic decor in the U.S. can be enjoyed Memorial Day through Labor Day, so why not have a good stash you can bring out and make pretty? Everything doesn’t have to have flags on it though. Today I’ll share Vintage Americana Patriotic Tablescape Ideas that combine your favorite finds.
Today’s post is part of our monthly Pinterest Challenge, organized by Cindy at County Road 407. If you’re visiting from Bluesky at Home, wasn’t Carol’s painted flag inspiring? DIY projects just bring such satisfaction. I’ll have the rest of the group’s posts at the end; plenty of fun patriotic ideas today!
This Month’s Inspiration Pic
Each month Cindy chooses an inspirational pic for us all to design around. This month Cindy gave us free reign to share any flag-related ideas. This month’s pic was found on Edith & Evelyn.
I decided to have fun and set a patriotic tablescape using vintage finds. Maybe the bench or the wood beams reminded me of a picnic table, because that’s where I decided to set up this Americana picnic. Enjoy the cozy campfire and take away some ideas for your next Patriotic table setting!

Vintage Bedspread for a No Iron Tablecloth
My favorite no-fuss tablecloth trick is to use an old bedspread for a tablecloth. Not only do you not need to iron it, you can simply throw it in the washing machine after. They’re generously sized, drape beautifully and can be found inexpensively secondhand.
This charming blue and white flower basket coverlet came from our cabin. Mom scooped it up at an estate sale for a song. It’s the perfect foundation for this red, white, and blue table setting.
Make an Americana Centerpiece with Old Tins
Old tins have great vintage graphics and hold nostalgic charm. Collect a grouping that feature red, white and blue and fill them with different textures. Line them up down the center of the table for instant celebration!
Fill old tins with:
- fresh cut foliage and flowers (tuck a jar of water inside)
- flags (old and new)
- fabric roses (learn to make them HERE)
- river rock, coffee beans, sand, or white beans and votive candles
- battery-operated candles (THESE taper ones are my new favorites)
Use Enamelware Dinnerware for your Tablescape
Enamelware dinnerware is the perfect choice for outdoor dining, because they won’t break! Yet they feel nicer than paper plates. Mixing and matching colors and varieties is fun, especially when you’re setting your table with red, white, and blue.
Use enamelware serving ware, too. A green, leafy summer salad will look beautiful in a blue and white splatter bowl.
Old, metal serving trays work perfectly as placemats and can be carried to the firepit easily, too. Red and white gingham check and blue and white gingham check are classics. (find them in my Etsy Patriotic, Red, White and Blue favorites HERE)
Mid-century starburst-patterned silverware is extra special with a ribbon bow around.
Find enamelware dishware options in the Table Setting category of my Amazon shop HERE.
Layer the Vintage Americana Linens
Evenings by the campfire can get chilly. Not only will vintage quilts soften the picnic bench seats, they’ll come in handy to wrap around yourself. Have plenty of good, old patchwork quilts in summertime colors available, and a couple of extra pillows will be appreciated, too.
Vintage napkins and towels look cute sticking out from underneath metal trays, and crocheted coasters in red, white and blue add great texture under the pop bottles. Scatter some crocheted hot pads around the table.

Be Ready with Vintage Games in Patriotic Colors
Once the meal is over, be ready with nostalgic games in patriotic colors. Old Bingo cards, pick-up-sticks and Flinch can all be corralled in a “DIY License Plate Caddy” that will look cute sitting on the picnic bench.

Oh my gosh Lora! I love this patriotic tablescape! I used to sell those “Pop Shoppe” bottles. They were so fun to use throughout the year. You did an amazing job integrating vintage tins and bottles into this display. Absolutely love it.
Thanks, Anna! Yes, love those Pop Shoppe bottles; years ago I found 2 whole cases of them in their red crates. I sold 1/2 of them and kept the other 1/2. They’re so fun to use:)
I adore all of your posts but this one is still a particular favorite. It just has everything that vintage Americana should be and it’s just stellar. Thanks so much for sharing at Home Imagined this week, Lora!!
Thanks, Rachel. It is personally one of my favorites, too;) But I do remember how hot it was when I was carrying everything out from the house to make it pretty!
Lora, what a lovely patriotic tablescape. Love your idea for using a coverlet and quilt. They add such a great vibe. Your vintage cans are a treasure and make great decorations. Hope you enjoy it.
What a patriotic feast for the eyes, Lora!!! I LOVE what all you’ve collected here and I remember the little star you made from an old measuring stick like one my father had (it was his father’s). The tins are perfect and everything looks lovely in front of the fire… I’m ready for a good game after a picnic of hotdogs and all the trimmings!!! <3
Happy Memorial Day to you,
Barb 🙂

Your tablescape is stunning. I love all the antique tins for the flowers and flags and the quilt is perfect for the bench. You definitely did it up right. I love it all.
Lora,
What a creative table. I love all the tin cans! So much vintage goodness.
Thanks, Rachel!
I loved your red/white/blue themed settings! I have come to love r/w/b more over the years. I have teamed my milk glass with my cobalt, then added bits of red, too. So pretty! My living room has a lot more blue and white in it than it did years ago, too!
Milkglass is perfect to add red and blue to!
Loved the use of old red, white and blue tins. I would have never thought of it. Now I have to be on the lookout for some.
Glad you enjoyed the idea; they are fun to bring out this time of year!
I love your table and everything on it, you are ready for red, white, and blue holidays we’ll be having. So much fun to eat and enjoy the outside. The red and white trays and enamel ware are so cute, great ideas.
Glad you enjoyed it all! Enamelware is so fun in the summer.
Seriously girl, how do you do it and where do you put it all?! I’m amazed at all of your tins, bottles, fabulous bedspreads and decor tidbits. I check out every nook and cranny of your photos and love every idea. One of these days I’m going to show up at your door and stay a week just to sit and enjoy my vintage surroundings! Thank you for joining in. Such a great post. pinned
Shuffling stuff all. the. time. Maybe someday I’ll turn into a minimalist and be sick of it all;) Thanks, friend!
Now I’ll be on the hunt for metal trays!! After seeing your star rulers a while back, I shaped a ruler of mine into a star and a customer recently complimented me on the idea! 😉 Thanks for sharing these cute ideas for a patriotic summer!
Yes, those measuring tape stars are so easy and fun to use all through the year!
I love every single thing about this!
I appreciate that, Pam:)
Favorite colors! Wonderful job. My favorite, your trays used as a placemat! Please show us how you created your yardstick star.
They’re so easy, Barb. You just bend an old foldable measuring ruler to the shape of a star. You can hot glue the ends to stay, too.
Wow Lora, you knocked this one out of the park! Your tin collection is fantastic and looks amazing on a long table. So many smart and clever ideas to love and copy! 😊
I appreciate that, Michelle:) Got my exercise trucking everything to the back 40, too;)
SO GOOD, Lora!! I LOVE everything about this…the tins, the linens, the fresh flowers…all of it. AMAZING.
I appreciate your sweet compliments, Rachel:)
How absolutely adorable! Your collection of tins is truly fabulous.
Been collecting them for awhile, indeed, Laura! Fun to use them as decor.
