Vintage Fruit Framed Pictures as Inspiration
A beautiful framed fruit picture that was my moms inspired the theme and the color scheme for my summer kitchen decor. While thrifting I found a similar-looking pic with a black frame. I love the nostalgic vibe of these. Colorful primary colors with the punch of a black outline was the scheme as I hunted the house for accessories to use in my styling.
You’ll see quite a few of my recent finds I shared last month in “3 Best Spots to Thrift for Vintage Decor“. New finds always inspire my decorating! These bucket crate covers got a little sanding and a coat of my favorite poly in order to be beautiful decor. (Find all my fave vintage reviving products HERE)
I placed the apple pic in an old galvanized trough with my collection of vintage milk bottles. I used wood spheres to make them higher so I could enjoy the fun graphics. Faux strawberries and milk bottle caps are scattered like confetti in the bottom for fun.
Old Wood Crates as Fruit Theme Decor
Vintage wooden crates are a classic for adding to fruit theme decor. I scoured the house for all I had. We repurposed quite a few through the years. You can see how in “Repurposed Old Wood Crate Tote Caddy DIY”. These upcycled old wooden crates are fun to decorate with all year long and take up less space than a full size version.
I added other classic farmhouse collections like rolling pins to the vignettes. Full size crates can take up quite a bit of real estate when you’re decorating. Sometimes it’s nice to just feature pieces of these old crates, especially when there are fruit and veggie images intact.
This old banana crate is filled with comfy pillows and quilts to take outside on the deck for chilly evenings. I’ve got some cute vintage strawberry fabric and cherry fabric I’m planning on turning into a few more pillow covers to add to the fruity charm. (yep, the creative to-do list is always going;)

Nostalgic and Thrifted Vintage Collections as Kitchen Decor
I’ve always loved vintage kitchen accessories. And they’re plentiful to find when you’re thrifting! I searched the house for anything that depicted fruit and pulled out the bright, color saturated pieces that would provide a bold, summer punch in the glass cupboards.
A few mixing bowls from our family cabin that had been my grandma’s started me out. I added to the collection when I found a few more green and yellow ones at a church sale. I love the subtle textures and mass of color they provide to the scene. Faux fruit is a great thrift store find; look for it in plastic bags. So much cheaper than buying it new!
Vintage metal trays often depict fruit themes. They can be displayed in plate stands for a creative vignette. Mix and match different versions for a pretty collection of color and pattern.

Pretty Vintage Patchwork Quilts for Farmhouse Style
Vintage patchwork quilts can provide a graphic punch of colorful fun in your decor. Whether they’re still intact or taken apart for the salvagable parts, I use them all over my house as farmhouse style decor. Bright colored versions add to the fruit theme for picnic-friendly charm.

I appreciate that, Anna! Yes, that chicken is one of my favorites, too:)
This is awesome. So colorful.

Wonderful, Kim; glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!

Thanks, Vicki! Glad you enjoyed it:)
Omgoodness, Lora! You find the best stuff! The flour sack quilt squares in the first couple of images caught my eye. I love old quilts!
I’ve loved them for as long as I can remember, too, Cindy. Couldn’t even begin to count how many full and partials I have around here. Whenever I can think of a new way to enjoy them, I’m happy!
Everything is so stinkin’ adorable! Love your moms fruit picture. And those trays in the plate rack – are you kidding me?! I LOVE IT!!! Just another thing to find while out shopping. Woohoo! pinned

I always love seeing what you have for us and was not disappointed. I love fruit and I will be on the lookout for some decor. Thanks Lora.
Always fun to find vintage fruit things!
What a lovely theme for Summer, Lora!! All of your vintage fruit finds are just gorgeous. I can’t get over that banana crate…where in the world did you find that?! How cool!! Pinned!!
A friend gave it to me;) Yes, it’s big, but I love it.
Oh, you always have the coolest collection of stuff! I love your collection of old scales.
I still kinda “need” a green one to round out the collection;)
Love this theme! And is that a black and white Sunbeam Mixmaster mixer I spy on your shelf near the colorful mixing bowls? I have my mother’s from the late 40s, early 59s. It’s the only mixer I’ve ever owned but recently gave up the ghost . It’s been slowing down for ages but finally quit. ☹️ it has its original bowls but the juicer attachment from my childhood is long gone.
I think that is what it is, Pam? It’s just for looks;)
