The Fall decor has almost completely spread throughout the Fake Farmhouse! Just in time for the outdoor beauty to happen. Vintage Finds and Upcycled DIY Ideas
Our Fall porch this year has plenty of vintage finds, along with many upcycled DIY projects. Junk and beautiful Fall foliage is the best combination if you ask me;) If your porch area is covered, definitely enjoy some of your vintage finds as outdoor decor. Most of my wood and galvanized pieces get a coat of THIS so they’re protected, also.

Our back entry is our main entry, which is pretty typical of old farmhouses. The only person that comes to the front door is the Amazon man;) Everyone else knows to come to the back door. Welcome to our Fall Porch! It overlooks our beautiful 2.5 acres which is bordered by a wooded ravine. We love to sit out here and enjoy the view, especially in the Fall!

I fill the wide steps with an eclectic combination of mums, pumpkins, and leftover summer plants. I use old galvanized metal milk crates to achieve different levels. I plopped a couple of my Upcycled Vintage Quilt Witches Hats on a few pumpkins (get the DIY HERE). Happy to say, these cuties are in this month’s Country Sampler magazine!

Our container planters around the house and garage are all old metal garbage cans I picked up at city clean up days. I pull the very summery flowers out and insert hydrangea heads, pumpkins, gourds and corn husks next to the existing foliage to get a Fall look.

We also have a little seating area near the back entrance. I like to think it’s a welcoming spot for guests to sit a spell if they’re stopping by. Corn stalks decorate the lamp post as well as all the porch posts. I love the sound they make when blowing in the Fall wind.

My Upcycled Old Garden Fencing Cloche moves from outside to in often. Here it perfectly frames a pretty orange pumpkin with hydrangea clippings and corn husks pulled off the stalks. (get the Garden Fencing Cloche How To HERE).
Foraged Garden Clippings as Fall Porch Decor
Yes, I do pick up mums and pumpkins from the store for decor, but I fill it all out with garden clippings from the yard. We pull the corn husks off the corn stalks and send the corn kernels far away from the house (to not attract critters).
I clip my hydrangea heads, spent sunflowers, autumn joy sedum and spent black eyed susans. Everywhere and anywhere I can, I style arrangements with the beautiful foliage. On the back porch, a repurposed vintage stove top is a favorite decorating spot.

An old wicker planter’s foliage gets swapped out. A fun pumpkin sap bucket I got from the MN State Fair holds a candle for nighttime ambiance.

Other vintage finds get a touch of seasonal foliage too, which easily turns them into cute Fall porch decor!

Outdoor Fall Table and Cabinet on the Porch
Outdoor areas feel cozy when you decorate them like you would the inside of your home. An aqua painted hutch anchors the corner where we’ve got a table and chairs. This is our favorite outdoor eating spot, because it’s right out the door from the kitchen.
A vintage tablecloth has a harvest-y vibe and an old galvanized trough is filled with a pumpkin and foliage. Two Repurposed Vintage Rustic Vases hold snipped grasses that wave in the wind. (see the DIY HERE)

The cabinet is a fun place to display Halloween decor. Up top bushel baskets are overflowing with old watering cans and foliage. Inside, an old brush collection, orange license plates and white and black enamelware are given a Halloween twist. At night, battery operated candles give the whole scene a glow.

Cozy Seating Area
When I was young, I always dreamed of having a farmhouse porch with a swing. Some family friend’s home had one and I thought it was the most relaxing thing ever. Now I have a porch with a swing at either end and a vintage green glider in the middle:)
This cozy seating area is right outside our sliding glass door, so it’s a pretty view from inside.

Our DIY Junk Styled Tiered Tray makes a changeable centerpiece on the old farm kitchen coffee table. The top can swivel from the bottom which makes it even more interesting. I took out the summer flowers and tucked Fall foliage into the clay pot mass.
Thrifted plaid wool blankets are a fun punch of pattern and color on the porch and nice to have at the ready for cool nights.

My collection of vintage metal chairs are tucked here and there around the yard. I like to see these orange ones out the slider door in the Fall. Learn how I revive these old favorites in “How to Refresh and Enjoy Vintage Metal Lawn Chairs (and keep their time-worn appeal).”

Isn’t the combo of vintage junk and Fall foliage the best? Instant cozy when you can add a pumpkin to a vintage find. And throw in a thrifted plaid blanket and some garden clippings from the yard, too.

Lora, your porch and outdoor spaces look so charming. I always love your posts, as they are full of vintage treasures I adore. The orange chairs are fabulous for fall, and I have to say that the tiered tray is one of my favorites. I hope one day we will get the chance to go thrifting together, I would love that.

I’m with you – junk and beautiful fall foliage are the best combination! Love your style, love your treasures and the way you put them together, and that you do so much for your family and real friends to enjoy. I know that it would take me an extra 30 minutes to get from the car to the door. I’d be gawking and touching and smiling and taking pictures of everything I passed! Love it Lora, you are the bomb!
Thanks, Cindy; I appreciate that!
Gosh Lora..this is AMAZING!! Like…straight out of a country magazine. All of the vintage, chippy, rusty touches look just gorgeous amongst the pumpkins and Fall foliage. I don’t know how you do it but you do it SO well! Pinned!!
Thanks, Rachel! I’ve probably been looking at too many magazine pictures of country porches;)
You are always so inspiring, Lora! I don’t know how you come up with half of these ideas but I’m always thankful that you do so I can pin them and try to recreate them at my house too. I love that you have porch swings on the front porch and all your friends and family come to the back door. It’s such a sweet way to welcome them into your home! Big hugs, CoCo
Thanks, CoCo! Always fun to create a cozy welcome:)
Lora there is so much inspiring goodness to be found in this post! I somehow did not see your quilt witches hats but they are going on my must make list ASAP. Congratulations on the feature! Thank you so very much for joining the hop. I’ve pinned and sharing on IG and FB.
Glad you enjoyed them, Laura. They’re so fun to bring out for Halloween and you could easily make them with your amazing sewing skills:) Thanks for hosting all the fun today!
