Cozy Christmas Bedroom with Vintage Style
Do you enjoy Christmas home tours? This cozy Christmas bedroom is decorated with romantic vintage style. get ready to be inspired!

Christmas decorating season has begun at my house (which always happens early when you’re a blogger;) If you haven’t started yet, or are waiting till Thanksgiving (in the U.S.), today is the day to fill up on beautiful inspiration! I am rounding out the last day of the Holiday Homes Tour, with 35 Christmas decorated homes. I’ll have links to all the beauty at the end. Here’s my first decorated space of the season, my Cozy Christmas Bedroom with Vintage Style.

Decorating with a New Bed
A couple months ago Mr. Fix-it and I bumped to a larger bed. Guess after 33 years, you just need more space;) Rather than fitting a king size mattress up our 100+ year old skinny staircase, we opted for two XL twin mattresses in a king frame. It’s awesome:) Then I hunted FB marketplace for the right headboard. Happily, I found a Pottery Barn vintage style white metal headboard with glass knob finials; it was just what I was envisioning.

Even though the bed is bigger, the room seems more open without our pencil post bed. The mattress is also lower, which is great since we have low ceilings upstairs. So, decorating our room was extra fun this year, since we had a big change;)
Christmas Decorated Mantel Shelf with Transferware
I’ve found the best combo for changeable seasonal decor above our bed is a shelf and a framed architectural piece above. I found this shabby mantel shelf curbside and revived it. The “DIY Repurposed Mirror Frame with Vintage Tin” is one of our favorite upcycles. It looks so pretty on the yellow floral wallpaper.

My fairly new red and white transferware collection fills the room with classic Christmas colors. Last year it was in the living room for an “Old World Style Christmas”. Each year I rotate my vintage collections to get a new look; I get bored easily and like to use things in a new way, in a different space.

A Christmas Tree for the Christmas Bedroom
This year’s Christmas tree was placed on a shabby white metal table I got at an estate sale recently. I swapped out the top for a scalloped wooden one I’d found curbside. The tree fit perfectly on top, with a beautiful bedspread around the bottom that doesn’t fit my bigger mattress. It coordinates perfectly with the transferware.

I’ve found two red trimmed suitcases on the curb; they are great for all of the red holidays. This one has been treated to vintage sheet music inside, so I love to display it open. (See “9 Fun Ways to Decorate with Vintage Suitcases” for more ideas)
The tree displays vintage clock faces, orange slice garland, shiny ball ornaments, faux picks and dried hydrangeas from the yard. Lots of texture, vintage and natural.

Decorate Your Furniture with Christmas Accents
Your furniture can be decorated for Christmas, too. Create vignettes on top of dressers, hang accents from handles, or pound a couple little nails like I did. One of the benefits of vintage furniture with earned character is you don’t mind a couple more holes;)

Some of my vintage suitcase collection got tucked into this little corner. I love enjoying all the awesome hardware. (See how I clean and revive old suitcases HERE)
My dresser also got decorated for the season. A thrifted vintage vase is full of seasonal beauty, a vintage postcard sign was picked up at a church sale. I popped a red amaryllis bulb in a transferware bowl; can’t wait till it blooms! Greenery and twinkle lights are drizzled throughout.

A thrifted sweater stocking hangs from a handle and is filled with tissue paper and bottle brush trees. (Unpack my Christmas thrifted finds with me HERE)
Even the dress form I’ve had since high school gets a touch of festive.

Satin Ribbon?
You may think I’ve spent a fortune on satin ribbon to decorate this room. Nope. It’s vintage satin blanket binding I scooped up at an estate sale for a couple bucks. Last year I realized it’s gorgeous to use. This year I simply ironed it a little and used it again in a different room.

Each window was treated to a wreath with a big, floppy satin bow. The view out these windows is gorgeous when we have a pretty snowfall. Years ago we completely gutted and remodeled this room. (This old farmhouse will never be done) Putting in this bank of Marvin windows was definitely a win.

How fun to focus on the bedroom, Lora! I don’t think I’ve ever decorated ours – but you’ve given me a ton on inspiration! I love all of your ‘curbside’ finds- my dad loved to revive all kinds of treasures that way, and I definitely picked that up from him, too! I love all of the unique things you’ve found along the way – it’s truly inspiring to see how you’ve landed on all these treasures with such a good eye! I also get bored and love mixing things up – what you landed on this year for Christmas is just so cozy and beautiful! What a great space to start and end the day! So fun touring with you this year!
Thanks, Kate! Yes, such a fun array of beautifully decorated homes:)

Thanks, Amber! Yes, can’t wait to see some snowflakes falling:)
I don’t know how you sleep with all the pretty decorations to look at and love all those sparkling lights. Loved it all, so much inspiration. Thanks and have a very Happy Thanksgiving with your family.
All the better for good dreams, indeed! Thanks, Marlene:)
Oh my golly Lora! I bet it’s difficult to go to sleep in there for constantly smiling at all of the beautiful details! And I bet it’s difficult to want to get out of that cozy bed each day! I haven’t done a thing to our bedroom, and now I’m anxious to get started. I might even pull out another tree (that I said I wouldn’t do). It won’t be anything like your adorable bedroom, of course, but thanks for all the perfect Christmas inspo! pinned
Decorating your bedroom just makes the season that much more special:) And yes, I didn’t want to get out of my bed today…but maybe that was due to the 3 blog hop week? Now I need to spread the cheer to the rest of the house; the ideas are swirling!
Hi Lora- Such a great idea to share a cozy romantic bedroom decorated for Christmas. I love your tip for using satin ribbon! Thank you for the inspiration and tour. Happy Holidays!
I like to start my decorating in a small space and this year is a little crazy since we’re working on my daughter’s first home. Ready to spread the cheer elsewhere though:)
SO pretty, Lora!! Such a magical and cozy space for the season!
Thanks, Rachel! Fun to use some of the new thrifted goodies;)
Lora, I love your bedroom for the holiday. Love your beautiful red transferware. Everything looks beautiful. Merry Christmas!
Thanks, Tammy!
So many great ideas- thanks! Have followed your blog for years, I enjoy all your posts. Also I had to hunt down the December issue of American Farmhouse Style- I saw the cover and I knew the carriage house on the cover had to be yours, it was fun to read the story. Thanks, Patty B.
Thanks Patty! Hmmm…that wasn’t my carriage house, though I’d love to have one;) Will have to look for that magazine myself; now I’m curious!
This bedroom is the epitome of “Merry and Bright” Lora! I love all the vintage touches you’ve added and all the layers of greenery too. I can’t get over all your transferware. It’s perfection! Sending you hugs and wishing you and your family a fabulous holiday season, CoCo
Thanks, CoCo! Yes, was thrilled to find the transferware at an estate sale a couple years ago-just before Christmas! I only wish my pockets would have been deep enough for the vintage jadeite dishes, too.
Hat’s off Laura as always you’ve done a gorgeous job and left no stone unturned. It’s all about the little things.
Yes, you are so right, Shelley! So fun to decorate while listening to Christmas music:)
Lora, I love all the transferware you used in your bedroom, what a fabulous idea, and your suitcase collection is amazing! Happy holidays!
Thanks, Ann! I’ve kinda lost count on the suitcases;)
Just beautiful. You found the perfect place for your new black vase and the lighter poinsettias in the arrangement tie the whole room together.
So glad you enjoyed it, Roxanne! Thanks:)
