A Sweetly Vintage Christmas Bedroom

Christmas Decorated bedroom

There’s just something extra special about treating your bedroom to some Christmas magic during the holiday season. It’s like giving yourself a present each time you lay your head down and wake up in the morning!

When I explained how I plan out my decorating color scheme each year before Christmas {“How To Plan Out Your Christmas Decor”}, the idea came to me that I should style our bedroom this year to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, which we celebrated in October.

Framed art.

And as we all know, 25 years of being married to the same person is definitely something to be celebrated these days…can I get an Amen? I decided a palette of 25 years deserved some sweet pink, along with some spicy red, adding some silver and gold accents. The beautiful poinsettia I received when at the “Bachman’s Poinsettia Greenhouse Tour”  was the perfect start to my styling. I placed it in a vintage wicker plant stand, sentimental to me because it was owned by a childhood elderly neighbor lady.

I clothed our bed in a rhubarb-colored damask, fringed bedspread, adorning the foot of the bed with a hand-made, vintage bedcover featuring Christmas trees and reindeer. The crisp, white quilted pillow shams contrast with the pink and red and are finished off with a “Jingle” pillow created by one of my former store’s crafters.

I styled the mantle shelf {“Mantle Shelf with Fall Textures”} above our bed with vintage, gleaming pink depression and ruby red thumbprint stemmed glassware. I placed epsom salts (snow) and candles in the red glasses and perched vintage shiny brites in the pink.

Although my “Bedspring Shiny Brite Tree” last Christmas was a huge hit, I can never do anything the same year to year; I need a new challenge! I decided to color block the Shiny Brite collection this year, since I’ve kind of been into color blocking lately {“Color Block Your Garden Bouquets for Visual Interest”}. I used the pinks, golds and reds in the bedroom and used the aquas, silvers and greens for the living room tree. I did the same with the bottle brush trees from a couple of years ago {“Shiny Brite and White Christmas”}, using the pink and gold here and the gray, green and aqua in the kitchen.

Atop our white linens cupboard, my milkglass serving pieces always reign. To add a little Christmas, I brought some pink candlesticks, greenery, and some gold and silver bottlebrush trees. I filled the rest of the milkglass with candles, and ornaments. Milkglass is so beautiful when candles glow from it’s whiteness!

(Sorry if the pics are dark; I took these at dusk to capture the night-time beauty, but think I could use a fancier lens!)

Our vintage-inspired yellow tree got elevated when I placed it onto the family heirloom piece I recently refreshed {“Refreshing a Family Heirloom”}. It reaches all the way to our low ceiling! I filled it with all the pink, red, and gold vintage Shiny Brite ornaments and also some vintage silver/gold garland I just picked up at the thrift store;)

Behind the tree, I hung my vintage plate collection in a big circle, imitating a wreath. I placed a suction cup hook on the top plate and tied a big bow out of some rose-colored burlap ribbon I’d picked up on clearance at Walmart. I love how it sets off the whole scene!

We’ve got the welcome lights in every new Marvin window. {See our bedroom remodel process, “15 Year House Anniversary”}. The whole room just glows at night, which is good since it gets dark at about 5 pm these days here in MN!

Even if it’s for a couple short weeks, it’s fun to have the bedroom all spruced up for Christmas!

Did you do any Christmas decorating in your bedroom? Or am I one of the only crazy decorators that spreads the joy all over the house?
