  1. Thanks for taking us along in this transformation, Lora. What a fun project for you and your daughter. And the memories made along the way are priceless. I am in the process of working on our living room, which has been scrubbed of soul and coziness in my attempt to keep it tidy. Who knows, maybe the wooden banana box will be included to add some charm! 🍌 I’m grateful for your inspiration, sweet friend!

Yes, you definitely need to use that gem somewhere, Becky!

  3. Karolyn Love says:

I’m old enough to be your Mother, but right now, I’d love to be your daughter!!! lol…what a beautiful room for her! I hung some crystals in my bathroom window which is facing the West and when I wake up and the sun is shining, I smile at the beautiful rainbows they make on my walls! Just starts my day “Happy”…thank you for sharing this great makeover. So much love when your furnishings are vintage with a story…

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

She does love how it turned out, Karolyn, even though she’s not there much these days:( And I love your idea to hang some crystals in the window; it sounds beautiful. Think I may have a few extra around here. I may try that in my east facing bedroom; I need all the help I can get in the morning! Yes, vintage furnishings with a story are the best!

  4. Stunning transformation! I love the vintage elements they add so much character.

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

Thanks, Kippi! The vintage combo is what makes a space totally unique!

  5. Lora, I love every detail! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!

      Thanks for the feature, Amber!

  6. It’s just lovely Lora! Chalkboard walls are so awesome. I’ll be doing one soon and can’t wait. I hope it looks as good as yours. That aqua hutch is gorgeous!!!

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

You’ll love a chalkboard wall, Tuula! Yea, that aqua hutch; just couldn’t part with that one. I had so much fun styling it for her! It reminds me of yours!

  7. Gorgeous! We have a room off our den which has been both older kids bedrooms. They are both off on their own now and hubs and I are getting ready to make it into a spare bedroom. Pinning for ideas!

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

      Wonderful! Have fun decorating, Sandra!

  8. Marlene Stephenson says:

Lovely room with glamor and color, truly a gift of love, i would say she must be a great creative person like her mom.

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

Thanks, Marlene! She is creative, also, but in different ways;)

  9. That is a beautiful room. I love that it tells a story when you walk in of the person that dwells there, instead of just package #4 at Ikea or a furniture store. I love, love, love the chandelier and the golden,, welcoming light it gives.. (I’m glad you didn’t paint it.) And I especially love the dresser where you left some of the wood showing. Good job!

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

Thanks for your sweet compliments, Vikki. Each piece in the room is almost a story in itself, and it’s so fun to bring it all together and make something new!

  10. Wow this is stunning! Amazing transformation. What a seriously fun room. You know I am crushing on those vintage mirrors too!

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

Thanks, Amber! You are such a mirror girl;)

  11. You had me at the glass doorknob in the first picture! What a great room. I remember catching h*** for using 1 common pin on a busy floral wall paper to hang up a picture of my beloved Paul McCartney! What a lovely collaboration. I loved the prisms from the crystal and the shadows from the curtains; what great ways to add color and “texture”. She will find that room very relaxing when she does come home!

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

I think floral wallpaper is perfect for covering small holes, Kathy! I loved your Paul McCartney poster flashback:) I think we did create a nice, soothing, pretty place for her to retreat to when her brain’s maxxed out on learning! Think I may want to retreat there, too…

  12. You are amazing! That is a seriously awesome makeover. What a lucky lady!

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

Thanks, Karin. Hopefully it will lure her home once in awhile;)
