Spring has finally sprung around here, and the robins are busy building their nests! I’ve been busy building our springtime nest for awhile and thought it might be fun to give you a tour before I get busy with all the outside projects that all of a sudden need to get done! When the last snowbank finally melts away, the outdoor projects demand quick attention. Here’s the Spring Living Room Tour at the Fake Farmhouse!
I just had to pick up this happy pot of daffodils at the grocery store. We’re weeks away from enjoying them outside, but I just love their sunny faces. They proclaim “Spring has arrived!” This cute little $15 church sale chair I picked up last spring has become one of my favorite finds. I draped it with a vintage quilt top, full of charming vintage fabrics. My flower button pillows are always fun to bring out in the springtime.
A couple of pretty green suitcases found new purpose filling in as side tables/plant stands. These two were always hard to use with their tapered bodies, but they’re awesome standing on end! Did you notice our new tree? Mr. Fix-it got it for Christmas from me for his new office-without-a-window at work, but he didn’t want it. Oh, bummer…guess I have to leave it in the living room;) I’m loving the “new” floor grate hanging behind the globes. Picked it up from my picker friend in his stash a few months ago. I just love architecture on the wall!
And speaking of architecture on the walls; the living room has really changed over the last few months! I hung a couple old schoolhouse windows on either side of the fireplace, sanded to shabby perfection. They look awesome with the 2 matching “Repurposed Drawer Wall Pockets”.
Springtime is the perfect time to enjoy my colorful vintage pottery collection. I filled them with fake veggies for a different style of organic. A vintage bird book is filled with gorgeous pages. I love enjoying it’s beauty just sitting out.
The mantle got treated to a celebration of carrots, just for fun!
Our intimidating large wall is enjoying it’s new look, too. I’m loving this “Old Window Chalkboard Spring Display” with the big punch of textural green the “Mixed Moss Grapevine Wreath” provides. And our new industrial light breaks up all my fluffy, pretty decor nicely! {“How to Add Greenery to An Industrial Pendant Light”} I always strive for that perfect balance of feminine and masculine, and the stronger textures help to balance out all the soft, pretty things I love as well.
Our vintage trunk side table is happily filled with out-of-season soft goods and does double duty displaying a fun collection of spring. {“Antique Trunk Refresh”} A couple divided drawers have wonderful cubbies for lots of fun small things to be appreciated. It was our Easter centerpiece a few years ago, but is on the sidelines this year {“Divided Drawer: From Workbench to Centerpiece”}.
Little Easter bunnies are tucked here and there, but there’s not an overwhelming presence. Spring and Easter can co-mingle happily for quite a few weeks before needing to be switched out.
Our fairly new bookshelf we created for a blog hop {“How to Decorate to Thrift the Look, Vintage Lakehouse”} got treated to a whole collage of springtime colors and textures. My collection of R.A. Fox prints are in the background and set the stage for the vintage accessories in front.
I even brought out a few vintage baby blankets to enjoy their happy colors for the season.
Of course, there’s always a project going on at our house, mixed in with all the pretty;)
I decided after 17 years of living here, I should maybe get around to painting the stairway. It’s hard to work on these spaces that are so heavily used, right? Maybe that’s my excuse…or maybe it’s just that I hate. painting. spindles:( Stay tuned for updates!
And of course, right in the center of all this springtime cuteness is the “Vintage Toolbox Centerpiece for Spring”.
Can you tell I’ve been a little starved for color during the long winter? Yes, spring has been a long time coming here, and it needs to be celebrated in a BIG way! It’ll be awhile before we see colorful flowers outside the window, so a girl’s gotta create it inside.
Hope you enjoyed this Spring Living Room Tour! Maybe you got some decorating and styling ideas for your home, too? That’s always my goal; to inspire you to see the potential you have in your own home and create a unique place to love for your family!
Sharing at these lovely parties:
Lora, your home tours have always been my favourite ! I absolutely love your style and I am always amazed at the different things that show up on display. You must have a lot of storage space to keep rotating everything and I am very jealous of that! Every time it rains and gets gloomy outside I am going to come back to your living room tour to be reminded of the colours to come outside very soon!
You’re too sweet, Pam; thank you! We are definitely space-challenged in our house (especially now), but I manage to pack stuff away pretty efficiently! Luckily our basement is unfinished and I can fill it up with racks of out-of-season things! Glad you enjoyed the tours!
I could spend hours at your posts, there is so much to see that i love and get ideas from but, my yard calls of dust bunnies so i wait till Sunday after church when i can spend some time, thanks for all the wonderfulness!! I love your spring living room and Happy Easter.
Definitely heed the call of the yard, Marlene! I need to do the same. We’ve waited a long time for it; computer screens can wait till when our bodies are tired of raking and gardening;)
Everything looks so beautiful Lora! I love all the vintage touches and vignettes! Happy Easter!
Tania
Thanks, Tania! Now that everything’s all spring-ed up, I can focus on some outside projects that need attending to!
What a happy home you have. I enjoy looking at all your vintage planters and especially love the (Lakehouse) bookshelf you made. Happy Easter to all your family.
Thanks, Vikki! Glad you enjoyed the tour:)
You have such a beautiful and happy home decor, Lora…it just makes me smile! I love it all! And that bird book!
You’re too sweet, Linda;) I love the pictures in that bird book! Maybe someday I’ll hang all of them up at the same time!
I love every bit of your decor! Love the suitcases displayed vertically– I may have to use that idea with some that I have here at home!
You should, Alisa! Honestly I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me sooner!
