It’s tailgate and Fall harvest party season! Time for fun but simple recipes you can serve to your friends and family. Of course we’re all in the pumpkin mood, enjoying them as decor and food! Instead of just decorating with cute mini pumpkins, today I’m sharing a fun Fall appetizer idea. You’ll want to add this Mini Pumpkin Charcuterie idea to your Fall party menu!
I’m joining my Pinterest Challenge friends today to send you all kinds of pumpkin recipes! Thanks to our creative leader, Cindy, from Country Road 407 for coming up with this fun idea. If you’re visiting from Decor to Adore, did Laura’s recipe just make you hungry? I’ll have all the rest of the delicious ideas at the end.

I’ve already shared some of my favorite pumpkin recipes. This time of year my family loves Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins and Chocolate Pumpkin Mini Pies. I wanted to come up with a savory way to use pumpkins that would be creative, too. Then I spied a fun idea on Instagram HERE. I decided to give the idea my own twist.

Gather Your Supplies and Ingredients
You’ll need:
- Wooden skewers
- Faux Fall leaves
- mini pumpkins-white and orange
- mozzarella balls
- pepperoni slices and/or salami
- cherry tomatoes
- olives-green and black
- long crackers and/or Fall leaf tortilla chips
- apple slices
- mixed nuts
First, Some Prep
Before making, hot glue faux fall leaves to the non-pointy end of 1/2 of a wooden skewer. I put the hot glue on the end of the skewer and wrapped a leaf around. Then added a couple different 1/2 leaves for interest.
Also, wash mini pumpkins and dry.
Flesh out the pulp and seeds of pumpkins. Discard the tops. Cut openings larger and in a round shape. (see the smiley face on the pic below)

The sad face shows how I first cut and fleshed them out. I realized I wanted a larger opening. And I realized they’d have a nicer presentation with the smiley face cut. Just a little tip;)
Assemble Charcuterie Pumpkins
When you’ve got all your ingredients assembled, start putting them on the skewer halves with the pointy end. Place the cheese, meats, olives and tomatoes on the kabob skewers.
You can figure your own pattern; I tried to vary color and shape to make them more interesting.

When the kabob skewer is full, poke it into the bottom of a pumpkin, so it stands up. Fill the rest of the opening with other ingredients. A lettuce, chard or kale leaf for garnish, a tall cracker. Then add smaller crackers/tortilla chips, apple slices and nuts around the bottom.
Trader Joe’s has the best Fall items. Their Fall leaf tortilla chips worked great. And their maple spiced mixed nuts are delish!

What a fun presentation! Image serving these at your next tailgate party or harvest party. They’d be fun as a first course appetizer at each place setting, too. I added a fresh nasturtium from the garden for pretty;)

They were fun to make and yummy to eat, too! And after the party…
After the Party…
After you’ve eaten up the insides, rinse the pumpkins and make a cute floral arrangement inside!
Cut small pieces of oasis floral foam (find it with all my fave floral products HERE) and soak in water. Snip your late summer flowers and some evergreen sprigs and make a cute arrangement.

Line them up in an old tool caddy on a bed of dried legumes for a fun, pretty centerpiece. I had as much fun arranging these as I did the charcuteries!
