Cozy Winter Living Room with Vintage Decor Style
Enjoy a cozy Winter decorated living room tour, full of vintage decor ideas!
Winter is long enough here in Minnesota that we need to embrace it; celebrate it. It’s the perfect time to “hunker down” (MN term) and enjoy being cozy on cold, dark winter nights. I love wrapping my home in layers of vintage, texture and candlelight so my family and I can winter well. Come on in and enjoy our Cozy Winter Living Room with Vintage Decor Style!
I’m excited to join a wonderful group of friends today for a “Keeping it Cozy” Winter blog hop, hosted by fellow vintage lover, Amber of Follow the Yellow Brick Home. If you’re visiting from County Road 407, I’m sure you enjoyed my good friend Cindy’s winter vignette ideas; she is such a talented decorator. I’ll have links to all the rest of the amazing inspiration at the end!

Library-Themed Living Room
My theme for decorating our winter living room was to replicate an old library. Because book reading is definitely on the winter agenda. {see “9 Must-Haves for Creating a Cozy Sitting Area in the Kitchen”}. Libraries just have that old world feel; probably because most of our reading is done on a screen these days?
Here are the items I included for our Library Theme:
- Lots of old books (shop for them HERE)
- Globes (find them HERE)
- Clocks (get them HERE)
- Typewriter (shop HERE)
- Candlelight (love THESE birch ones for winter)
- Suitcases (because books enable you to travel anywhere;) (find them HERE)
It’s a cozy jumble of vintage collections. Think I could enjoy this look all year long! It’s a well-traveled, collected look that just feels right for the reflective days of winter.
Vintage Clocks on the Mantel…and More
My plan was to fill the mantel with my vintage clock collection to celebrate the start of the new year. But once I unpacked more of the boxes in our storage unit, I realized I had more than I knew! Yep…I am now a vintage clock hoarder. I counted 26 clock faces in this room! They just have such great graphic appeal!

Round Shapes and Vintage Collections
Do you see all the round shapes I’ve got going? I must have a circle obsession! I had enough dark colored yarn balls to make one length to coordinate with this look (see “Easy Yarn Ball Garland How To”). And globes are a pretty awesome collection, too.
Of course I had to include one of my vintage typewriters, and style it up for winter.
These are my words for the year. Read how and why I chose them in “Word of the Year for 2022″.
Cozy Candlelight and Comfy Textures
Thrift stores are my favorite places to find handmade afghans for cozy winter texture. Plump pillows with down inserts are squishy soft for cozy cuddling. Flickering faux candles and fairy lights make winter nights feel special.

Cozy Winter Dining Room
The same subtle greens and browns color theme carried into the dining room. I happily scored an almost brand new set of upholstered dining chairs recently on marketplace. They pull the dining room together so nicely; I just had to set a pretty winter table!

Vintage Wheels and Architectural Elements
To further the focus on lots of wintry texture, I filled a repurposed toolbox and tiered try with old wheels, winter greens and pinecones. Old lamp parts and sewing machine elements add architectural interest.
Winter is definitely being embraced in our home! The dark nights can be savored next to the fire in our library-themed living room. I hope you enjoyed the tour and are inspired to fill your home with winter coziness!

This is probably the most beautiful I have seen your home! It is just wonderful decorated for winter. So many gorgeous treasures and lots of green too, my favorite!
Thank you so much for joining this hop!
Lora your living room is so cozy! I love how you decorated it for winter! That tiered tray is so cool!
Thanks, Stacy:) We made 2 of those tiered trays years ago; I’ve used them so many ways. The tutorial is on the blog; probably should have linked to that (faceplant).
I’ve read your blog for some time now. I always enjoy your vintage decor, but this is, by far, my favorite! All the vintage pieces work well together. I really like the library theme. Wish I hadn’t already decorated for winter or would copy! Hope I remember this for next winter.
I really appreciate that, Barb! The library theme is so cozy for winter:)
Oh wow, I’m loving all those amazing vintage clocks and faces. Mixed with the globes and suitcases it’s such a fun vintage theme for the new year. Your house looks so homey and cozy. LOVE it! Have a great cozy weekend!
It’s been so cold, so it’s nice to turn all the lights on and hibernate!
I’m so amazed by how many vintage collections you have Lora. I would be a kid at Christmas in your home. Now this is the way to beat the winter blahs. Nicely done my friend.
Yes, way too many collections, but they are so fun to decorate with! I appreciate that, Kim:)
Friend, where do I start?! It all looks so cozy and inviting. From the napkins and adorable plates with button garland on the table to the stacked suitcases and 26 clock faces… It’s all seriously magazine worthy coziness. You’ve done such a beautiful job. And finding those dining chairs makes your room really stand out. Love the piano and the keys on the wall! Are those keys? Whatever they are, I want some!
Yep, they’re the guts of a piano;) Kind of like a piano over a piano theme; fun architecture. Find a free old piano and carefully take it apart-great decor potential!
Your living room is the perfect spot to enjoy watching tv or reading a book by the fire.
Yes, doing both this cold winter!
This post fills my heart with joy! From the cozy yarn ball garland to the darling dishes that look like snowflakes! Loved the reel!
Thanks, Laura; I appreciate that!
Absolutely gorgeous! So warm and cozy. Blessings to you.
Thank you, Renae!
Lora your clock collection is amazing as well as the suitcases and globes. I think you’re right this is the perfect room for cozy reading and letting your mind travel! Pinning!
It will keep me content until I can pull out the Spring decor:)
LOVE all your vintage collections and how you display them. I’m getting some cool ideas from you. Thank you. đ

Happy Winter Cozy to you!
I appreciate that, Beth!
