Vintage Thanksgiving Table
Get vintage-inspired Thanksgiving table setting tips with a wintry touch.
These last weeks, I’ve shared how I’ve been preparing to set my Thanksgiving table. First I planned the tablecloth and made printable placecards {“How to Use Fabric Yardage on your Table Settings”}. Then I refreshed an old tool caddy and showed you how to arrange a centerpiece with it {“Repurposed Tool Caddy Centerpiece for Thanksgiving”}. Today you’ll see how it all came together as a perfectly pretty Vintage Thanksgiving Table.
Today’s Thanksgiving table is part of a beautiful “We Gather Together” blog hop, hosted by Amber of Follow the Yellow Brick Home. If you’re visiting from My Wee Abode, I’m sure you enjoyed Julie’s Thanksgiving printable! I’ll have links to all the other wonderful ideas at the end. Hope you can visit many of them!
Now, let’s talk about ideas for setting a beautiful Thanksgiving table!

Have Your Thanksgiving Table Reflect What’s Outside Your Window
This Vintage Thanksgiving Table has a simple style, but reflects the bounty of the season. Where we live, Thanksgiving is more about the beginning of winter than the end of Fall. The brightly colored Fall leaves are gone and oftentimes we have our first layer of snow on the ground. Bringing in wintertime elements of pinecones and evergreens reflect what’s happening outside the window.
Vintage Transferware Plates Harken the Holiday Season
This Currier and Ives set of blue and white transferware has scenes of folks riding in sleighs, which always gets me singing “Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother’s house we go“. I love how well the blue dishes coordinated with this fabric yardage I found. The cool blues and greens on the table are contrasted by the colorful, bountiful fruits and veggies in the centerpiece. Fresh succulents are a refreshing change from cut flowers, and are an unexpected combination with evergreen clippings.
Tie Silverware with a Velvet Bow on your Thanksgiving Table
For a fresh change and to create a more special table setting, I tied the silverware at each place setting with a green velvet skinny ribbon. I tied a bow and kept the tails long, so they could trail around. Little touches like this elevate the holiday table to something special, don’t they?
The pinecone and evergreen napkins transcend the season and once again reflect the beginning of winter. The soft gold background on the napkins coordinate nicely with the “give thanks” printable placecards. The placecards stand up simply in the pinecones.

Add A Sprinkle of Snow as a final touch to your Vintage Thanksgiving Table
For a final layer of texture, I added a sprinkling of artificial snow around the Tool Caddy centerpiece. And yes, it’s on the dessert plates too, which really just looks better for the pictures;) Of course my family knows that sometimes the table decorations trump practicality on these specially set holiday tables! They can blow off a couple fake snowflakes, right?
Thanksgiving with a Touch of Winter
What do you think about adding touches of winter to the Thanksgiving table decor? It really depends where you live and what’s going on outside your window. If you still have gorgeous, vibrant Fall-colored leaves on your trees, you can use all those warm colors. But here in the north, the cool colors of winter are upon us and I think this table reflects the seasonal transition!

So fun to revisit your post! Those produce items in your centerpiece still make me stop and gaze! 😉
Thanks, Julie! I love using everyday items and making them special:)
What a wonderful idea to use pinecones as note holders! I’m going to have to steal that idea!! Great job on your tablescape!
Steal away, Kori! Thank you:)
Lora,
I love your Vintage tablescape! I have those blue dishes and love them. I popped over from Cindy’s roundup. So happy to be participating with you.
Rachel.
Yes, fun to have another vintage junk lover around! Thanks, Rachel:)
Glad I got to see this tablescape again this year. It reminded me that I want to incorporate some of your ideas into mine this year. All I have to do it narrow it down! SO many great ideas! Happy Fall
What a beautiful and festive table Lora! I love those plates and I agree that they have that “Over the river…” look to them making them perfect for Thanksgiving transitioning into Christmas. The green velvet ribbon is pretty tied around the silverware and the little snow flakes are so magical! You always have so many unique ideas!
Thank you so much for joining the hop. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks, Amber! Hope you’re getting to enjoy a relaxing weekend with your family!
I love all things blue and white so this is stunning. Love the silver tied with ribbon!
The cool blue and white does look pretty with all the warm, vibrant colors of Thanksgiving!
Lora, I’m envious that you have a real winter beginning! We zigzag between summer and winter here, and my plants are all very confused. Your table setting looks absolutely lovely, especially with that classic blue and white transferware and the feminine touch of velvet. I am going to use that idea for a table setting one day! It really adds so much charm, and I forget about velvet as an option for ribbon. I wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Definitely use velvet ribbon, Crissy; adds such a touch of beauty and texture! Thank you!
This is so much fun! I always love seeing what you do Lora! You are so creative and create the prettiest tables, projects and spaces!
Thanks for the sweet compliments, Kristin!
Your turkey centerpiece is perfect and so cute. I really like the place settings and silverware and that little bit of snow, so pretty and clever. You have a lovely view out your windows. Have a wonderfully Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks! You, too, Marlene!
Hi Lora, I love the idea of decorating your table to reflect the natural landscape in your area. The evergreens in the mix really take your tablescape to a new level and I love how all the components you’ve worked on have come together. Beautiful! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks, Michelle!
Lora, your tablescape is beautiful! I love your clever idea of using cedar boughs as placemats. I think I might steal that idea for my Christmas table this year. Same with tieing pretty ribbon around the cutlery. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
They actually are placemats, Marie! I need to find an affiliate link for them; everybody loves them!
Lora, what a lovely table you have styled for Thanksgiving. All of the details and elements are beautiful, but your centerpiece really steals the show! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
A very special compliment coming from talented, you, Chloe! Thanks:)
Lora your vintage table is beautiful. I tie ribbon around my silverware too! Your centerpiece is beautiful and the little bit of snow is such a wonderful nod to winter too. I’m happy to be hopping along with you, pinned. Hugs!
Thanks, Katherine! I love adding ribbon to the table!
Oh Lora, what a lovely table! So many rich details and fine little touches — the velvet ribbon wrapped flatware. I’m fortunate to have my husband’s great grandmothers sterling, and I think it would look fabulous tied with a crimson ribbon at Christmas — thanks for the idea! I hope you have wonderful holiday with all those you love gathered around.
How wonderful that you can enjoy the family sterling! I just asked my mom about my Grandma’s that I loved, and she informed me she sold it to be melted down:( I’m trying not to be heartbroken; at least I saved my Grandma’s wedding china from the same fate years ago!
Lora, I love coming to your blog and seeing your witty crafts and vintage elements! Your Currier & Ives table china was also one shared from my archives, yet mine was purged this year (part of a huge downsize for us in 2019). I still love the look, and how you’ve incorporated both fall and early signs of winter with yours. It’s a reflective fact for our region too, where here in WV we are considered the most northern southern state and the most southern northern state! We can have three seasons in any given day in these transitional months.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
So glad you enjoy visiting, Rita! Yes, it seems you and I both love our vintage dishes; so fun to set a pretty table with! Always enjoy hopping with you!
Your tablescape is so lovely, Lora! I love the colors and the velvet-tied silverware is so charming! Who wouldn’t feel special dining at this lovely table!?
Thanks, Linda! Now, if we can just get a sprinkling of real snow;)
What an absolutely gorgeous table Lora! I truly love that ceramic turkey.
I’ve forgotten where I picked him up, Laura, but certainly am glad I did!
Lora, you always style such fun centerpieces and I love your sprinkles of snow! Happy almost Thanksgiving! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

Your table is gorgeous, my friend! Love the greenery ‘chargers’… perfect! And your tablecloth and centerpiece make for a casual, yet gorgeous table! So fun hopping with you! pinned!
Thanks, Julie! Those evergreen chargers are one of my favorite table setting additions; they look good for so many months!
Lora B, I want to come sit at that beautiful vintage table. Love that transferware and silverware. I think I have those same patterns! The snow is a perfect little touch too. Hope you have a magical Thanksgiving friend.
You are welcome to come sit at my table anytime, friend! Come for a visit in a couple months if you want to experience a REAL winter;)
Your table looks beautiful! I love your tool caddy centerpiece and your beautiful dishes. Tying the silverware with a velvet ribbon is such a pretty touch.
Thanks, Paula! Just a bit of ribbon adds such a special touch to so many things:) And yes, I’m loving that “new” tool caddy, too!
What a fun way to gather family and friends Lora! I love everything you’ve created and your tool caddy centerpiece is so fun. Orange and cloves are two of my favorite scents. I could use them around the house all year. I hope you and your family have a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving. Hugs, CoCo
Yes, the fragrance of pushing the cloves into the oranges was amazing; love the combo, too. Thanks, CoCo!
Lora, what a beautiful table. Love the ribbon for the silverware and your beautiful dishes. Using the tool box is a great idea. I have a vintage one, but I painted it aqua and it’s in my laundry room ~ maybe I shouldn’t have painted it. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Well, if you ever need a centerpiece in a pinch, you’ll know you can run to the laundry room, Carol. I’d be just as happy with an aqua one! Thanks; always fun hopping with you!
