We are mid-summer and I’m getting my fill of sun-drenched colors in my decor. Recently I picked up a cute Scandinavian floral coffeepot and decided it was the perfect muse for decorating my porch cabinet for summer. Hopefully this post will inspire you to start your own enamelware collection. Enjoy this Colorful Summer Vintage Enamelware Display with Scandinavian Style.

What is Enamelware?
Enamelware are vessels and dishware made of hard metal that has a coating of powdered glass baked over the top. It is fired in a 2000 degree Fahrenheit oven which creates the vitreous enamel coating. It creates a smooth, non-porous, non-stick surface. Some of the earliest specimens date back to 1230 B.C.
Of course, my thrifted collection is not that museum worthy. I collect mostly Americana pieces from the turn of the century until now. During the Industrial Revolution, enamelware everyday pieces got trendy. Different colors and designs, including graniteware and splatterware became available and were a mainstay in American homes and around the world. The durability and non-breakable feature made it popular for indoors and out.
For more history, I enjoyed THIS article. The company also makes beautiful new enamelware dishes that are great for outdoor camping and dining. Find their selection HERE (new to me retailer, but they’ve got way cool stuff;)
Vintage Enamelware Decor
I’m always keeping an eye out for vintage enamelware when I’m thrifting. I find it at church sales, estate sales and thrift shops. I also have pieces we used at our family cabin. For different seasons, I decorate with coordinated color enamelware or with all one colorway. For summer I get out all the primary colors, with that perfect outline of black. My new painted coffee pot guided my styling.
Find similar painted enamelware HERE.

Gingham check accents and croquet balls add to the summer fun-inspired look. Sunflowers add that vibrant pop of summer. I seem to be drawn to the coffeepot and teapot shape, but have quite a few lidded buckets and pots, too.

Scandinavian Style Accents
After clearing out a couple bins from our family’s former cabin, the Scandinavian accents carried through. A Norwegian prayer, and a couple of Dala horses match perfectly with two crocheted pot holders from a church sale.
I love how the different patterned pieces bring all the solid colors to life:)

Colorful Summer Fun
I just love the colors of each season. These vibrant primary colors echo all the bright flowers in my gardens. Mixing and matching thrifted enamelware pieces in different shapes and sizes creates a fun display.
Vibrant colored croquet mallets and vintage soda pop crates up top continue the summertime fun theme.

Croquet balls and old soda pop bottles with hosta leaves fill a vintage metal tool caddy for a simple centerpiece.

The perfect place to enjoy morning coffee and gaze at my fun enamelware collection:) At least some of it.
