Pretty Vintage Inspired Home Office in the Bedroom
Ideas for creating a pretty vintage inspired workspace with budget-friendly repurposed junk finds.
We’d all love a room we could completely dedicate as a home office or studio, don’t we? But the reality is many of us struggle to carve out even a small space to devote as a workspace in our homes. Especially now, when many of our homes are more full with family members than ever! Today I’m sharing my Pretty Vintage Inspired Home Office in the Bedroom that I’ve been refreshing curbside junk finds for! Hopefully it will give you some ideas to create your own!
Today’s post is part of a “Spring Nesting” blog tour, hosted by Cecilia at My Thrift Store Addiction. Cecilia asked a group of creative bloggers to share ways we’ve been nesting, or “feathering our nests” during this crazy time in history. If you’re visiting from Calypso in the Country, welcome! I’m sure you enjoyed Shelley’s beautiful patio area! I’ll have all the rest of the inspiration at the end!

A Refreshed Vintage Side Table as a Home Office Desk
Often when people are needing to set up a home office, they think they need to spend a lot of money. Your workspace will be much more unique and budget friendly if you refresh and repurpose vintage junk finds with a little DIY.
Luckily this Spring I came across the perfect table for a desk while I was curbside junking {“Curbside Junking Finds (best ever)“}. My bedroom workspace is not very big and is in front of our windows. We need to be able to pass by easily into the closet. This beefy oak table’s oval shape was just the right amount of flat surface and enabled my legs to easily fit under it. It even had nice spots on it’s pretty base to put my feet!
Of course, it needed a bit of a makeover. The finish on the top was rough. I had planned to paint it, but once I got it all sanded, decided I couldn’t cover the pretty wood grain. Instead I painted the base a fresh white with green hand-painted accents. I used Miss Mustard Seed’s Farmhouse White Milk Paint (you can get it HERE) and accented with Miss Mustard Seed’s Luckett’s Green (HERE). I love this water based paint and how it crackles and gives a perfectly vintage shabby look to pieces.
Definitely Find a Comfortable Chair for your Home Office
Although I love refreshed vintage furniture, I knew I needed to purchase a new chair in order to sit comfortably for hours on end. Because my workspace is in our bedroom, the desk chair needed to be pretty and match the decor. With a little searching and price comparing online (because real stores were all closed), I found the perfect fit. I’m thrilled with the soft, celery green button tufted desk chair I bought. It’s totally comfortable, can be raised or lowered and leans back, so I can vary my posture. It’s curved lines match perfectly with my refreshed, vintage desk table!
Add Fun Vintage Junk Items to your Home Office Workspace
Less cluttered workspaces keep my mind focused better, but I still want some fun vintage items to look at to inspire my creativity. An old stepladder became the perfect spot to set my first vintage typewriter. The ladder’s character-rich old wood is beautiful to me and I love how I can put one foot up on it’s rungs to vary my posture!
I imitated a typewriter print I had picked up at Hobby Lobby and placed green foliage in the typewriter, along with my business card in a flower frog. It just makes me smile:)
Repurpose Vintage Junk Finds to Corral Office Items
To corral the office necessities, I grabbed the fun tool caddy we had upcycled for the last Thrift the Look challenge {“How to Decorate to Thrift the Look, Garden-Inspired Decor”}. Pens, post-it notes, paper clips and fun washi-tape are as cute as they are practical in the yardstick-embellished tote.
Have Fresh Foliage in your Workspace, Always
Fresh flowers or foliage always bring me contentment. I love having a beautiful view out the windows and watching the squirrels and birds in our big pine tree. Even when the speeding cars drive by, a couple of snips from the yard or a few flowers from the grocery store bring peace to my soul. When the technology struggle challenges me, having pretty things by my side enables me to push forward.
Did you enjoy this peek into where I’ve been nesting lately? I hope you were encouraged to create your own unique home office workspace where you can focus while still enjoying pretty things. Repurposed vintage junk finds can be a great budget-friendly option to decorate your space. I’ve got one more piece on the project list; a primitive wood chest that I’m going to turn on end, add shelves and feet to and a door knob. It will be perfect for all those files and papers that seem to pile up everywhere.

Welcome, Gina! Glad you found your way here:) Thanks!
What a wonderful spot to work in, Lora, especially with that nice big window! I love your pretty upholstered chair, so much nicer than a utilitarian looking office chair. Wondering where you ordered it from?
Wayfair, Marie! I will get an aff link on this post soon, too;) The comfy chair definitley makes it!
You found the perfect place, i love your table and old typewriter, thanks for sharing and have fun watching nature out that window.
I am, Marlene! Especially fun in the Springtime!
Your office is so pretty Lora! I LOVE, LOVE that typewriter with the faux plants!
Tania
I’m just so happy I finally found one…at a good price;)
Well goodness gracious, this is just all so lovely and appealing!
You definitely have an eye for fabulous finds and then you take them to a whole level of beauty.
Totally gorgeous, I really need a vintage typewriter too, I am convinced now!
So fun to share in this Spring hop with you!
Jemma
Thanks, Jemma!
Lora,
The perfect office table, chair, and location! How nice to be able to work in a quiet place with a view to outside. When my family starts talking to me while I am blogging, I lose focus for both their conversation and for my blog post content. I, too, retreat to my bedroom for a quiet place.
Happy spring,
Judith
We’ve got everyone home right now, Judith, and the dining room table was just not cutting it. I’m the same; distracted by the smallest things:( I have to get away, or I read the same sentence over 10x and don’t understand what I read!
You have inspired me! I love your vintage work space…that old type writer with the succulents is just darling! I pinned it!
It is a little vintage eye candy to look at while I’m typing, Kelly;) Glad you liked it!
You created a wonderful workspace. It’s so pretty and of course, I love the vintage touches.
Thanks, Paula! It’s good to be able to get away from the rest of the house and have a quiet place to work!
What a lovely workspace, Lora! I love your new chair…it looks so cozy! I admit, with that beautiful view out the window…it would be enticing me to ditch the work and go outdoors…
Enjoying it from here helps me not think I’m missing it, Linda! For some reason, I always need to be facing outdoors whenever I’m doing anything creative! I’m all about good windows!
What an inspiring home office you have! I love how you refinished that table to use as a desk but my favorite is that typewriter. What is it about vintage typewriters that are so perfect? I love, love, love how you styled yours! I also love the way you face the outdoors…so peaceful. Such a lovely home office! Great to hop with you again! (This may be a duplicate comment but I’ve had problems commenting with my blog email so I am using my personal one here.)
Stay well!
Shelley
Thanks, Shelley! Your comment came through just fine this round! I’ve always loved vintage typewriters, too, and was pleased as punch to find this one in a curbside pile; free is the best price!
This is such a beautiful workspace, Lora! I love all the vintage touches you’ve added and how rescued that gorgeous table too. I love the paint colors you chose and how you left the wood grain, it’s gorgeous! Hugs, CoCo
Thanks, CoCo! The table really ended up being the perfect size!
Lora, you ALWAYS have the best projects. I can’t believe the junk finds you hauled this year! Holy cow! Good job, lady.
It really was an amazing junking year, Rita! I can’t wait to get to some more of them! Wish my hands worked as fast as my brain:)
Lora, I am always inspired by your creative repurposes. I have a bedroom office nook, too and I love your fun ideas! Pinned! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
