Simple Everyday Fall Tray Centerpiece
How to style a simple everyday fall Tray centerpiece with what you already have. Use these staging ideas to arrange a lovely fall centerpiece with your own treasured finds.

The nights are already getting shorter and we’ve had some rainy, gloomy days; Fall has begun! When the house is darker, it’s time to add Fall coziness and pretty. I love to arrange a simple centerpiece we can enjoy on the dining room table, since it’s the room we always walk through. Here are some tips to style a Simple Everyday Fall Tray Centerpiece with your own treasured finds.
Design Challenge
Today’s post is part of our monthly Design Challenge series, where a group of bloggers design around a photo chosen by Cindy at County Road 407. From one pic you get lots of ideas to make it your own! If you’re visiting from Sonata Home Design, I’m sure you were inspired by Missy’s great ideas. I’ll have the rest of the posts linked at the end.

Inspiration Pic
Today’s inspiration pic comes from Brocante Majolie. It shows a kitchen themed Fall tray vignette with a collection of accessories you probably already have.

Design Cues:
- Tray to contain the vignette
- Wide variety of textures
- Subtle Fall colors
- Natural elements
- Amber glass candle
- Mini pumpkins
Most of us like to challenge ourselves by using what we already have for these challenges. For this one, I’m not exactly replicating all of the elements. Yep, going a little off-road;) Hopefully you’ll be able to see it’s easy to create your own everyday Fall centerpiece with what you already have.

Choose a Tray for Your Fall Centerpiece
Tray centerpieces are not only good looking, they’re handy! You can place them on a dining room table, a coffee table, an entry table or a kitchen island/counter. When you need the space under it (like a family game session or last minute buffet), simply pick it up and move it!
I’ve found a tray with handles works best. I also like it to have some depth, so if you pick it up everything doesn’t fall out. This darker toned woven basket was found at a church sale for super cheap. We used it for my daughter’s wedding to serve charcuterie cups before dinner. It is the perfect size and shape for our “new” curbside oval dining room table.
First I covered the table in a pretty mustard gold embroidered linen tablecloth; I love enjoying it during Autumn. A plaid wired ribbon simply tied in a bow on one of the handles gives a cottage vibe.

Arrange a Triangle Shaped Vignette
Use the rule of three or think of a triangle shape as you choose accessories for your tray vignette. I chose a large amber glass jug as the tallest, biggest piece. Then I added an ironstone pedestal. The third item was the amber glass candle holder. In order to get things to the right height to make an appealing shaped triangle, I stacked vintage blue books under the pedestal. Can you see the triangle?

Add Supporting Actors
Just like in a movie, the main characters need supporting actors to make them look good. Natural touches always are the perfect go-to, especially in the Fall. I snipped tall crabapple branches from a tree to extend the height of the arrangement. I snipped a couple hydrangeas and tucked them in the base. And I added a couple handmade and store bought pumpkins to the ironstone pedestal.
See “Fabric Pumpkin How To” to make your own handmade pumpkins.
The standing book in the back adds another vertical element (kind of a backdrop) and I love the texture of old paper in the mix.

Just light the candle and a gloomy day turns to cozy! This Simple Everyday Fall Tray Centerpiece just puts a smile on my face whenever I walk through the house. I added my favorite battery powered lamps on either side for extra cozy.
I’m enjoying my collection of Amber glass when the sun comes out on an old ladder in the bay window. It just glows with Autumn light. {see “13+ Beautiful Ways to Decorate with Amber Glass”}

I hope this inspires you to arrange a simple tray centerpiece somewhere in your home, with your own treasures and style!

How cute is that crabapple branch! Your thrifting and foraging skills are always so impressive! Love your fall tray and those supporting actors too! Pinning!

I love your idea of “supporting actors!” It’s those actors that give your beautiful tray such life! Beautiful job!
Thanks, Missy:)
Lora, I love that you foraged the crabapple branches for this lovely vignette!! The little pumpkins are sweet on the cupcake stand, and, of course, being a bookworm I love your open book in place of a cutting board. <3
Perfectly cozy!
