Early Fall Hutch Decor Ideas with Vintage Thrifted Finds
Kick off your Autumn decorating with these beautiful Fall hutch decor ideas. Thrifted vintage finds in autumn colors and textures will inspire your Fall decorating ideas for the home.

The seasonal transition from summer to fall is beginning. I’ve even spotted a few orange leaves here and there! I’m not quite ready to embrace all things pumpkins yet; give me a couple more weeks;) But the autumn colors of greens, golds, browns and touches of orange are appealing. I’m kicking off the autumn vibes today with Early Fall Hutch Decor Ideas with Vintage Thrifted Finds.
Thrifting with the Gals
Today’s post is part of our monthly Thrifting with the Gals series. Four of us share our thrifty ideas from all across the country: Vermont/Maine, North Carolina, Florida, and Minnesota. We love vintage finds and sharing how we use our thrifty finds in our homes.

We’re welcoming my friend, Diane, from South House Design as our guest today! Be sure to give Diane a warm welcome, and check out her very creative blog; she is so talented! I’ll have links to everyone’s posts at the end.

Vintage Thrifted Finds
In “Recent Vintage Thrifted Finds” I shared how everything I’ve been finding lately has been green. So to kick off Fall decorating, I decided to start slow with a green/gold combo, adding in bits of orange and brown. It’s still very green here, since we’ve had a summer of rain. But the sunflowers and sweet corn let us know Fall is right around the corner.

I picked up a beautiful squirrel and daisies needlework at a local garage sale for $2. The wood frame wasn’t my favorite, so I took it off and glued a textural brown trim around instead. This piece was my inspiration for styling the early Fall hutch in the dining room.

Decorating with Vintage Collections
I’ve been picking up vintage green enamelware here and there for years. But a recent estate sale multiplied my collection quickly. My collection is the foundation of this fall display, because green is a neutral. It can be used with any other color for any season.
I stacked different pieces this way and that so I could enjoy all the different shapes. Several pieces have the old wooden handles, that I love.

Green enamelware coffeepots and teapots are here and there, too. I tucked in green hydrangeas, which will dry beautifully.

Add in Seasonal Fall Colors and Textures
In “Collecting Vintage Platters for Seasonal Decor”, I explained how I thrift inexpensive, pretty plates and platters to use as an accent for different seasons. Tucked in back, you’ll notice a couple pretty platters with Fall colors. They’re a perfect way to introduce the colors of the season.

Lighting and Seasonal Fillers for the Win
For that final touch on any display, make sure you include lighting for ambiance and seasonal fillers for texture. THESE battery operated, remote control candles are used all year long, tucked into all my decorating. I also picked up THIS wicker shade mini lamp that turns on with the touch of your finger. Love the light effects the wicker shade adds. So inexpensive, too; definitely getting another of these! Love that both of these options can be in a glass cupboard, too.

In “35+ Decorative Vase Filler Ideas for Beautiful (& easy) Styling”, I’ve got all kinds of natural ways you can get the autumn look…many from your back yard. Decorative fillers can turn your normal accessories into seasonal interest with a simple clip!

A Pretty Seasonal Wreath, An Instant Win
I picked up this pretty wood flowered wreath at Hobby Lobby last year (sorry, can’t find a link for you). Love how it brings all the colors in this display together, and transitions from late summer to fall.

Some people love to wear their new clothes to a party…I love to style my “new” finds into a pretty, seasonal display! It’s so fun to look at a new season of colors and textures. This is just the beginning of my fall decorating. Summer is going into hibernation;)

Thrifted and Styled
On an Instagram group I’m a part of on Mondays, I styled this table with my thrifted finds. Catch a video HERE. And follow me while you’re there:) The table and our bay window coordinate. It’s so fun to walk through the dining room and enjoy this summer to fall display! You can spy the limelight hydrangeas and black eyed susans in the garden outside. Inside reflects the outside.

The green is such a cheerful fall color. Love it!
It’s definitely a neutral in my house;)
I think that Squirrel needlepoint is adorable and thank you for giving me another reason to keep on looking for needlepoint treasures. Honestly never thought of replacing the frame and putting a trim. I sometimes replace the frame or take it out of the frame and prop it up against something. That wicker lamp is something I would have picked up..darling and goes with the Fall season…lovely. I do decorate but September is when I say so long to my summer decor..sad too see you go but I love decorating for Fall…❤️
Yes, September is a great time to switch up the seasons. Have fun!
LOVE it, Lora!! Your hutch always looks so beautiful for each time of the year. You hit the enamelware jackpot though…holy cow did you score!! I’ve never actually seen the enamel with the wood handles before but it’s SO pretty! For sure need to keep an eye out for that, now!
Yes, always fun to come upon someone else’s collection when it’s something you love!
