All Season Decorating with One Thrift Store Find
When you’re always on the hunt for secondhand finds, cheap treasures have a way of finding you! This simple metal piece jumped into my bag at a church sale because of it’s $2 price tag. I had to have somewhere I could use it! At those kind of prices, you buy first and decide where it’s going later;) I’ll show you where it ended up and share how you can achieve all season decorating with one thrift store find!
The metalwork pattern in this lightweight, old piece reminded me of the tile in our bathroom floor; maybe that’s why it caught my eye. I’m sure it was originally intended for candles, but who uses things for what they’re supposed to be used for, right? I usually push the envelope;)
I was tempted to snip off the pokey things that probably held the candles, but then I realized they may come in handy to hold whatever I ended up putting on it. The bathroom definitely needed this piece to add some decorative punch, since it’s tall beadboard makes it difficult to accessorize.
Sorry for some of the slightly wonky pics. Standing on the toilet seat to take pics is a little tricky. Because this bathroom is small! Another reason to simplify the wall decor and make one piece transition through the seasons.
During the warm months, little clay pots of succulents are the perfect size for these 3 little spots. I simply drilled a hole in the containers, and they sit securely on the candle prongs. Succulents are a nice update from the globe candles that were probably originally placed on this piece. Thay also add some great texture to the little bathroom.
When the season transitions to fall and harvest, some of my fabric pumpkins {“Fabric Pumpkin How-To”} sit securely on each spot, thanks to the little spikes! Having a couple pumpkins in the bathroom is an easy, seasonal change, and brings some harvest color into this small space.
When harvest season is over and the cold winds of winter blow in, I transition this piece with a trio of yarn-covered sryrofoam balls. They easily poke into the spikes, too. I sure am glad I hesitated on snipping those valuable assets off! They make all the difference of my cute decorations falling on someone’s head when they’re arising from their…task;)
All season decorating doesn’t have to be difficult, or expensive! One $2 thrift store buy can add round the calendar interest to your home, with just a couple switch-ups. Cheap. easy. cute. It’s the best combination!
All season decorating can be achieved with one thrift store find! I hope next time you spot one of these vintage decor pieces, you’ll have a better reason to scoop it up!

This is so fun, Lora! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!
Thanks, Cecilia!
Very cool, Lora. The texture of the grate adds so much as a backdrop for just about anything.
You’re so right, Stacey. Having a backdrop as the foundation brings everything to life!
