Refreshing Patio Chairs: Stapled Cushion How-To

Cushions needing a refresh

These cushions were adorable when I first put this fun geometric pattern on them for Big Boy’s grad party…three years ago! Since all the yard is getting it’s party duds on for Happy Girl’s grad celebration in June, the vintage patio chairs that surround the oval table I showed you in “Two (sewing machine bases) are better than 1” {Here}, were next on the refresh list. I decided I’d take pics so you can see how easy this is, in case yours are looking as sad as mine were.

While the chairs were drying from their fresh coat of paint in a lovely “London Gray” color (I think it looks more like cocoa), I got to work inside cutting and stapling with my electric stapler.

This time around I chose an allover fabric that has the same aquas and greens I love, but updates it with the gray. I picked it up at Joanns (which is easier now that Happy Girl is working there;)  Ever since I painted some old shutters a light gray for the porch last Christmas (you can see it in “Porch Decorating Fun”, Here), I’ve been wanting to add more to the outside areas.

Here are the step by step instructions for giving your cushions a new look-it’s so easy!

Between the fresh paint and fabric, our chairs look as good as new! (Only better because they’re vintage)

Can’t wait to gather them around the big, teak table, pop the umbrella in and enjoy a meal alfresco!

If your cushions are looking as sad as mine, go ahead and try this easy DIY project, whether it’s on your outdoor chairs, or maybe your inside ones. You’ll feel so proud of yourself!

    1. Ooh, lucky you, Dianna! They’re getting harder & harder to find! I just came in from sanding some vintage lawn chairs I scored junking last week & just found another alongside the road when I picked my son up from school today! Score! Happy mom’s day to me on that one:)
