Weekly Rambles
Weekly Rambles is a summary of the week, plus favorite decor and creative inspiration from around the web.
I can’t believe June is almost over! Boy, that wizzed by; but it always does. The beginning of summer kicks off so many things, especially this year. We’re all coming out of our cocoons and enjoying being out in the world again, right? It’s like the sweetness of Spring; everything is savored more when you can do it without a mask! Let’s get started with the Weekly Rambles…

~I recently had a fun day making pretty with peonies with my friend, Becky at Swenson Gardens. As we all know, peony season is fleeting, and Becky and her crew take as many pictures as they can of their amazing plants so they can post them on their social media & website all year long. I drove out to the country, well stocked with classic vintage finds to combine with the peonies. Between Becky’s decorative stash and mine, I styled up a storm and we took a ton of pics. I’ll be doing a blog post this coming week, so you can see the behind the scenes process! {see their amazing field in “Peony Field Tour, Swenson Gardens”}
~We had an early hot streak here, so my peonies had to be enjoyed rather quickly. Luckily I was able to set a pretty table with them for our monthly Pinterest Challenge. In “Casual Outdoor Summer Table Setting Ideas” I shared some of my favorite tips to make every night’s meal easy and special. My blogger friend’s really brought their “A” game to this one; I loved all their beautiful summer tablescapes! You can find their links at the bottom of my post.
~Did you celebrate Father’s Day? We enjoyed taking my Dad out to breakfast, where he could enjoy his favorite pancakes at a local cafe. We also picked up a dozen solar lights for the garden for Mr. Fix-it (you can find them HERE). He loved placing them all over among his favorite hostas. Solar lights are so inexpensive and make such a difference in beautifying outdoor spaces! I’m intent on adding more this summer! I’m thinking umbrella lights, some spotlights on trees and more of the staked ones…I like to go all-out when it comes to beautifying;)
~Summer is such a wonderful time to reconnect with friends and family, when everyone’s schedule is a little bit lighter. This past week I enjoyed supper with a high school church friend and had fun hearing about old times with my mom’s cousins who came to visit her. This weekend we’ve got 2 grad open houses, one for family and one for a college friend’s daughter. So many of these people we haven’t seen since before the pandemic! It will be so good to get caught up!
~Our raised beds are supposed to finally get delivered by Monday. Yes, it will be late to put veggies in, but we’re going to do it. We should still have time to get some veggies harvested. Hopefully I can still find some plants at the local nurseries; at least it will all be on sale! I’m so excited to make our new picket fence garden beautiful and yummy!
~I am the type of person who needs a deadline; can anyone relate? I missed getting into the Blogger’s Best Summer Home Decor hop with all my bloggie friends (you can catch it HERE). As a result, I’m kind of behind with my summer decor. So this week my house is looking like a tornado. I’m putting away all the Spring branches and birds and eggs and switching to casual, fun, sporty and cabin decor. Bring out the bright, happy, summer colors! I always clean as I go and try to put things away in an organized way, so it’s a couple day process. I turn on the tunes and enjoy making my house pretty! I’m sure I’ll be sharing it in the next couple of weeks!
~Did you catch my “Trash to Treasure, Vintage Junk Makeovers” post? It was fun to recap some of my curbside finds and see where they ended up in my home! I’ll be scrubbing up some of my new finds and bringing them in for my summer decor; can’t wait!

I always love to see what other people do to their yards and these were very good. It has been hot here but, last night and this morning we had some rain. I usually have to get up early and do my watering before I eat. I hope you get your garden beds in and you can always have a Fall garden, I plant one every year. Thanks and have a great evening and Sunday.
