Easter is right around the corner! Have you thought about how you’re going to set your table, if you’re hosting? Luckily the grocery stores are full of pretty Spring flowers right now, which is perfect for lovely table settings and centerpieces. Hopefully today’s Vintage Cottage Inspired Easter Table will spark ideas for you to use, too!
I’m joining my monthly Pinterest Challenge friends today, to send Spring centerpiece ideas your way! Our leader, Cindy, at County Road 407 has chosen an inspirational pic that we all design around. It’s so fun to see where everyone’s creativity takes them:) If you’re visiting from Our Southern Home, I’m sure you loved Christy’s beautiful dining room centerpiece. Isn’t her huge antique wardrobe to die for? I’ll have links to the rest of the Spring centerpiece ideas at the end; enjoy!
Inspiration Pic
This month’s inspiration pic comes from our friend, Emily, at Le Cultivateur. Emily has a lovely vintage romantic decorated home that she styles oh so beautifully. Definitely check out her blog. Emily has created a pretty Spring centerpiece, focused on a cute little bunny that holds salt and pepper.
Design clues I noticed:
- centerpiece arranged on a footed pedestal tray
- centerpiece has 3 main components: basket with flowers, cloche with plates, metal bunny
- nest with eggs and moss
- spring branches (pussy willows)
- pink flowers
Here’s how I interpreted the idea, and spread it to the whole Easter table! I mean, if I’m arranging a centerpiece, why stop there? It was fun to style this table to coordinate with the rest of my dining and living room. Emily’s version is very shabby chic and romantic. My version is definitely more of an English cottage vibe.

Arranging the Spring Centerpiece
For the base of my centerpiece, I used an upcycled old wooden toolbox we made years ago. {“Toolbox Half, Repurposed”} It fits perfectly in the middle of the table and has old doorknobs as feet. I love a spot of black mixed in with all the pastels to keep things from looking too sweet at Easter, also.
I’m mixing old with new for the table linens. An old yellow and white damask bedspread is always a favorite to use, because it’s no iron, and everything looks good on it. A new Target ruffled yellow and white runner gives a cottage vibe, and round cabbage placemats echo my cabbage ware-filled hutch. {“Collecting Cabbage Ware for a Spring Hutch Display“}
I gathered the three main components for the centerpiece: a glass cloche with pretty plates, a basket for flowers, and a cute bunny for Easter. I added an egg cup inside the cloche, too. Now to add all the pretty textures.
Arranging the Floral Basket
Using 2 bunches of Costco tulips, I inserted them into a bowl of water with a floral frog in the bottom. I arranged them to follow the line of the pretty Easter-looking basket.
To plump out the arrangement, I snipped lilac branches from my yard. In a couple of days they will bud out with cute little green leaves. I was still wanting something more to add to the tulips. I headed for the produce drawer in the frig. Have you ever bought those cute little heirloom carrots at Trader Joes that are peeled already, in different colors? I cut a little off the end for a straight cut and inserted a wooden kabob skewer. I cut a couple inches off the skewer and inserted the end into the floral frog. Instant cute!
To fill in the space around the water vessel, I used natural excelsior grass; it looks so Easter-y. A couple of Spring eggs finished it off.
Spring Centerpiece Finishing Touches
Under the cloche, I filled the egg cup with excelsior grass and eggs also. A ripped fabric ribbon was tied to the basket handle. I spread green moss around everything in the bottom of the tray. Faux spring apple blossoms are laid in a couple places around, too.
On the back side, I placed a metal bunny facing the people that will sit on the other side of the table, along with a Happy Easter greeting. I love adding words to the table in some way as a greeting.
Battery wax candles are a must, and tealight candles are popped in a vintage depression ware creamer and coffee cups. Love the glow out of the colored glass:)
The centerpiece is all done, let’s set the rest of the table!
Setting the Easter Table with Vintage Cottage Style
A stack of thrifted floral china salad plates inspired me to marry them up with my grandma’s Noritake china dinner plates. These antique glass Easter baskets were a gift from a friend years ago; I still love pulling them out each Spring and enjoying their colors.
Pink and green depression glass cups and saucers are so pretty with their floral patterns gleaming in the sunshine. I love adding clear colored glassware to more solid china plates to add sparkle to the table.
Each place setting has a gold Target bunny, a vintage glass basket with nuts and candy, and a printable placecard inserted into old flower frogs. (Sign up to become one of my Newsletter Insiders and get free access to all my Resource Library printables;)
Pretty Vintage Cottage Inspired Easter Table
I love the vintage cottage style of this pretty Easter table. It’s so feminine, yet the black toolbox centerpiece keeps it from getting too candy sweet. It’s the perfect balance of new and old that keeps it fresh.
And it coordinates so nicely with the cabbage ware-filled hutch display! I’ll happily enjoy gazing at this table setting until Easter:)

Thanks, Barb. Yes, got this hutch off marketplace a couple years ago and have loved styling it for the seasons. Good luck!

I love the basket you used for the centerpiece. The tulip shape is perfect for Easter. I wish we had a Trader Joe’s near us. I’d love to pick up fresh flowers like these Great centerpieces.
So sorry you don’t have a Trader Joe’s nearby, Rachel! You would love picking up flowers there; they’re so cheap, and have an amazing variety. I seriously go there every week-go for the flowers, get some groceries.
