Repurposed Junk: Sprinkler Art
Don’t throw out that old sprinkler! This trash to treasure upcycled DIY project breathes new life into an old sprinkler. Fun vintage junk makeover to craft for garden inspired decor.

Whenever I seem to have an abundance of something, I’m inspired to come up with a cute way to use and enjoy it. Several of these old yellow sprinklers have come home with me. I love their bright color and sprinklers just harken to sun-filled summer days in the yard and garden. Who loved running through them as a child? Hopefully you have one of these or will find one soon, so you can make your own Repurposed Junk: Sprinkler Art.

Materials Needed:
- Old sprinklers: any type will work
- Faux succulents: a variety of small, medium and large to choose from
- Moss/lichen (THIS is much cleaner to use and handy to have on hand)
- Spray polyurethane
- Bindwire (definitely a favorite to use often)
- Hot Melt glue gun
- Wire snips
- Scissors
- Faux butterflies, optional
Sprinkler Art How To Directions
Give your old sprinkler a good wash if it’s dirty. Once thoroughly dry, spray it lightly with THIS. The subtle sheen will turn a utilitarian find into a decor-ready canvas. ( I had to do it inside, so used a cardboard box)

Using a wire snips, clip your succulents shorter. If the stem is thick, make an initial cut through the plastic and then bend back and forth until it cuts through.

Cut a length of bindwire-about 8″- with a scissors or wire snips. Wrap the middle of the bindwire around the succulent stem (right under the flower) and twist the two to secure tightly.

Attach as many succulents to your sprinkler as you want, wrapping the bind wire around the arms or the base. Odd numbers are always good. For the smaller sprinklers, I used three different varieties as the main feature.
Heat up your hot melt glue gun for the next step.

The succulent stems may still be a little wiggly. Hot glue them in place so they stay where you want. Use pieces of faux moss to hide the ugly; just hot glue moss over the bind wire.
You could be done with it now. But you could also add smaller succulents or trailing types for more interest. Snip strands off of a larger trailing type and/or snip little pieces off a bunch. These smaller pieces add dimension to the overall arrangement.

DIY Upcycled Sprinkler Art
These were so fun and easy to make! And they are so cute for garden themed summer decor. Tuck them into a cabinet with clay pots and vintage garden tools. Add some seed packets, too.

I made four all together. I brought three to my new booth and kept one to enjoy myself.
