Spring Tulip Wreath Inspiration
Our inspiration pic comes from Kristi at Chatfield Court. She shows us how to craft a beautiful DIY Tulip Wreath that’s perfect on her pretty front door.
My goal was to craft a DIY tulip wreath with my huge stash of fabrics. I love Kristi’s pink tulips, so I found several varieties in my pink fabric bin. I love craft projects that make use of what I already have. Here’s how to make a tulip scrap fabric wreath if you’ve got leftover fabrics like me!

Materials Needed
scrap fabrics
sticks
hot melt glue gun and glue sticks
Start By Cutting (a lot of) Fabric Petals
Make a cardstock petal template that’s approximately 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″. This is what you will cut around to make the tulip petals.
Cut out 6 petals per flower. Doubling the fabric makes it go a little quicker.
I used a variety of pink patterned and solid fabrics. I added a bit of yellow for a Springtime sunny punch. I’ve had some of these fabrics for 30 years! I am not a quilter, but I love the interplay of different floral and graphic fabrics together. This wreath is a great no-sew way to enjoy fabric in your decor!
Make Scrap Fabric Tulips
Snip 3-4″ sections of twigs for the base of your tulip. Place a 1″ line of hot melt glue on the bottom of a fabric petal. Wrap it around the stick. Continue with a total of 6 petals, creating the look of a flower as you go.
How many flower tulips you need depends on what style wreath you want. I wanted tulips all around like our inspiration photo. It took a lot. Honestly, it would be easier to just have flowers on part of a wreath. And it wouldn’t be as time consuming as mine was with all of the flowers.
Prepare Wreath Form
Wrap wire wreath form with strips of fabric, gluing to start and end. Using one of the flower fabrics for this will give a cohesive look.
Optional: Cut Tulip Leaves
I wanted a bit of green on this wreath to look like the inspiration pic, too. Simply freehand cut sword-like leaf shapes out of green burlap (4-6″). Fold lengthwise to add shape and hot glue one end.
Attach to Wreath Form
Now it’s time to put it all together! Hot glue tulips around wreath, overlapping. Snip off end of sticks for easier placement if needed. (I realized this as I was working) Vary your fabric patterns for interest. Insert leaves every so often, tucking them behind flowers.
Also, decide how you’re going to hang it. I tied a simple length of twine around the top before I glued all the flowers on. At this point, I was thinking it would be cute to just glue flowers to part of the wreath (which is kind of trendy right now). But I kept going to fill the whole wreath, because that was my original idea.
The Finished Tulip Scrap Fabric Wreath
Think I probably spent around 4-6 hours making this. Which is pretty time consuming. But I am happy with the result. This Spring wreath has upcycled cottage charm and will be so fun to decorate with! It’s a fun repurposed take on our inspiration photo.

Hi Lora! I love your no sew fabric tulip wreath. Especially the “no sew” part. It looks great on the green shamrock! (Now that I know green is your favorite color – I do see a recurring theme in your posts)
Yes, I love anything and everything green, Anna. Just like in nature, it’s a neutral!

Are you kidding me?! That is the mostest awesomest wreath ever! I can hardly believe you did the entire thing but of course you did. You’re Lora B! Hoping one day to do this. I adore it! Hope you enjoy it for the entire season. But if you ever tire of it, I’ll buy it!

Oh my GOSH, Lora!! This is INCREDIBLE!! You really outdid yourself on this wreath…I can see why it took so long but GOSH it’s just stunning. Truly one of the most adorable wreaths I’ve ever seen. Amazing job, friend!
Thanks, Rachel! Excited to work it in with the Spring decor:)
This is amazing, Lora! I’m totally with you about using what you already have. My craft closet is spilling over so I’ve challenged myself to use what I have this year. I love how you did the same. All those shades and pops of pink are perfection! Hugs, CoCo
Yes, my craft supplies are a hoard, so my creative brain needs to keep the ideas coming!
Your wreath is so pretty Lora! I love the fabrics you used. All those pink patterns go so well together. I would hang that all year round. It just makes me smile.
Yes, Tuula, it makes me smile, too! Thanks, friend:)
This is absolutely adorable! I have some scraps that I think I will transform them.
I’m sure you have plenty of fabric scraps you could craft one with, Laura!
I love your wreath; it’s so cute. But, honestly, I can’t imagine taking the time to create it. I wouldn’t have the patience. I hope it brings you pleasure every time you pass it.
Yes, it took a while to make that many flowers, but I think it would be just as cute to have the flowers on 1/3 of the wreath. You could even make a standing bouquet of them for another idea.
Hi Lora , the fabric wreath turned out nice .
Thanks, Teresa!
