Styling a Pretty Spring Vignette
Start your spring decorating by styling a pretty vignette, using vintage finds and natural touches
Although the winter white still rages outside my window, I’m choosing to Think Spring inside my home. Slowly, little corners are losing their winter wardrobe and transforming. Today I’m Styling a Pretty Spring Vignette in my bedroom to inspire you to start transitioning the seasons, too!
Today’s post is part of our monthly Pinterest Challenge series, organized by Cindy at County Road 407. Each month Cindy chooses an inspirational photo, and a group of creative bloggers designs around it. If you’re visiting from The House on Silverado, I’m sure you enjoyed Niky’s pretty decorating style. I’ll have the rest of the post links at the end; hopefully you can check them all out!
Inspiration Photo Design Details
Our inspiration photo is a Spring Entryway from Leen at Sand Dollar Lane. Leen lives near the ocean, and her pretty aqua, whites and green color scheme reflects the coastal vibe she loves. You can see her full post, “How to Decorate an Entryway for Spring” here.
Let’s take a look at the design details in her pretty pic:

First, Decide on a Color Scheme
To bring a cohesive look to your vignette, choose a color scheme. Leen’s entryway table vignette pulls all the soft colors from the majolica pitcher: white, aqua, green and brown. Those colors can be seen in all the accessories she chose.
My color scheme is based on the majolica pitchers I had, one vintage and one new. For a more color saturated Spring look, I’m decorating with brown, pink, and green, surrounded by my yellow bedroom. My spoon-carved green dresser is one of my favorite pieces of furniture {“Dresser Makeover in Vintage Green”}, so creating a bit of Spring on the top will help me get through our snowiest month, March!
Next, Choose and Place Your Accessories
When you design around an inspirational photo like this, it’s easy to gather similar items around your home. Or buy or thrift the pieces you don’t have. I have plenty of my own stash!
Sand Dollar Lane’s styling was fairly balanced. She placed the weightier items on the 4 quadrants: the lamp, the pitcher, the basket, and the stack of books. Then she added textural accessories for interest.
I already had an antique lamp that was my Grandma’s on my dresser; to balance out the other side, I grabbed one of my vintage birdcages and set it on an old floor lamp brass base.
To anchor the middle, I stood up a wicker picnic basket in the back and laid color-themed books in front. (checking off the items in the inspiration pic: wicker, books, eggs in a footed glass vessel)
Almost Forgot the Bottles!
I thought I had incorporated all the elements, but realized I had forgotten to include old bottles and succulents. My vignette was filling the top of the dresser, but I managed to squeeze in 3 vintage amber bottles with my freshly made Pine Cone Succulents (you can see the how to on my Instagram, HERE; follow me while you’re there!).
Finish the Vignette with Spring Textures
For that final touch, add Spring foliage and elements. Spring flowering branches, succulents, moss, eggs, and excelsior grass are perfect textures to bring in the season. Adding a bird brings life to the vignette, too. I just picked up this sweet vintage robin figurine thrifting. He’s the first sign of Spring decor at my house!
A faux flickering candle shows off the luminescent pink inside of the vintage majolica pitcher, which adds another texture.
Pretty Spring Vignette
When we do these Pinterest Challenges, I usually try to get a final capture that looks similar to the inspiration pic. Since Leen’s pic was straight on, I had a little trouble, because our bedroom’s not that big, and the bed is across from the green dresser.
Now you know what we bloggers have to go through to get pretty pictures sometimes! And yes, I hung the vintage music art on the mirror so you don’t have to look at our ugly ceiling fan;) Photography tricks, indeed!
I will definitely enjoy looking at this pretty Spring vignette when I wake up each morning!
