Baskets, Bunnies and Eggs All Around the House
The countdown to Easter is on and baskets, bunnies and eggs are filling the nooks and crannies of my house! Thought it would be fun to go on an Easter hunt with you today all around my home. If you haven’t quite gotten around to styling for the upcoming holiday, this post should give you some inspiration!
Once I got the big kitchen cupboard all styled for spring {“5 Tips for Styling Shelves”}, I kept spreading the pretty all around. For a couple short weeks I enjoy these sweet Depression glass vintage baskets dancing all along my kitchen windowsill over my sink. The pretty pastel colors just gleam in the bright sunshine. I could put some grass or jellybeans in them, but I honestly appreciate the simplicity of their shape and color as is!
My chicken feeder and ceiling tin awning display are happily Easter-ed up. Orange carrots mixed in with the bunnies and eggs just seem so appropriate, and I like how it punches up the sweet pastels. (If you want to see how I gussied this scene up for Christmas, see {“Comfort Christmas House Tour”}).
This grouping is the perfect study in using vintage and new items together for a fresh display. The ceiling tin awning, the wood store display and the green chicken feeder are obviously vintage, but the bunny garland is from the dollar section last year at Target and the plastic eggs plates are from Pottery Barn years ago. The cute chenille carrots and little duckies are from a local favorite floral shop and the flowers are store leftovers. Turning on the Ikea spotlight at night elevates the whole display to art gallery status!
Vintage plus new is my favorite way to go so as to not get too antique-store-ish, if you know what I mean;) And don’t you just love all the textures represented in this display? Old wood, patinaed metal, felt, twine, chenille, along with raffia grass and flowers. I just love a great combo of texture!
My funky candleholder with the cool shape that I had mini pumpkins on last fall {“Consider Shape in your Styling”} now holds a couple of my vintage planters in pretty pastels. I popped a little moss and some eggs in them for an Easter basket alternative. A mossy bird watches over the scene.
My lilac and crabapple branches I clipped to create Easter trees {“Decorate with Spring Branches”} are leafing out, which makes me feel like I’m outside in the trees when I’m in! I added a cute Easter plate to my metal cubby display. I’m so enjoying the pretty fabrics on the “Vintage Fabric Wreath” I created every time I run up and down the stairs!
I actually achieved keeping some plants alive throughout the winter inside my house this year. I kept my rosemary and parsley from last summer’s pots alive, replanting them in some cute handled, galvanized pots from Hobby Lobby. The parsley pots fit perfectly in the vintage fencing squares Mr. Fix-it makes that I used on our Christmas Brunch table {“Christmas Brunch Table”}.
My kitchen counter centerpiece is also a study in vintage + new + florals = styling perfection. The old grate is elevated with some porcelain electric thingys and the african violet with it’s pretty purple flowers looks fresh in a footed milkglass container. The lacey, polka-dot napkins and pretty orange placemats I just picked up at HomeGoods and the carrots and green container were church sale/thrift store finds. Doesn’t my rosemary look healthy? I love to add it to my chicken noodle soup!
Hope you got a shot in the arm of Easter inspiration styling today! Now if we could just get some sunshine to green up that grass…

Amalia,
Thanks! The bunny garland was actually from the Target seasonal dollar isle last year. I always check that area for cute & cheap when I’m in:)
I too love the mixture of old and new. All old is to musky smelling for me, and all new is just boring. 🙂 I love the chippy tin and the feeder is just so cute! You just made me realize that I don’t have all of my Easter out. I have a plate with a similar image on it. 🙂 Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
A good balance of old and new is definitely the best, Jann. Hope you can find your plate in time;)
