  1. Hello everyone! Do you think I can still achieve this look with white walls!! My husband likes white walls but I love the dark decor look.

You can totally pull it off, Tina! Have fun!

  2. Oooooh, I likey! Might have to figure out how to change up one of my spaces. Love the moody, dark and dreamy!

Hi Lora! I love it! This is my preferred style however I’ve always referred to it as “Hogwarts”, from Harry Potter. Dark Academia sounds much more elegant! The music theme is lovely, such a cozy style as the seasons change.

It was a fun different style to play with! And learn something new:)

  4. Lora Like always it’s the little things. Taking care to use the things that you love in a fresh and interesting way is always what I am trying to achieve. Loved the look and always what you do. Good job and keep it coming.

So glad you’re getting ideas to use your treasured finds in fresh ways, Shelley! Yes, that’s what it’s all about:)

  5. This is gorgeous, Lora. I had an antiques dealer friend 15 years ago that did this look. She called it Old World, and she had a real gift for putting it all together. This really nailed it, and I love it. Would work so well in a small den or man’s office. So fun to see a new look!

Yes, a very fun theme to play with, Debra! Perfect in a shop around this season, too:)

  6. I love all the layers in this look- the vibe is spot on! Beautiful Lora!

Took me a while to jump into it, but once I got going with it, it was fun!

  7. I absolutely adore that candle holder with the gold detail on the mirror! And I love how you’ve pulled it together with all the musical instruments, it’s so interesting and unique! Gorgeous work.

I found a pair of those in a curbside pile and questioned if I really liked them, but they were perfect for this look:)

  8. Woaaahhhhh, Lora. This is SO different than what I’m used to from you…and I LOVE it. It’s SO moody….this is an amazing Halloween display without actually being Halloween. We have that same mantel clock….I can’t believe you found that on the side of the road!!!! I love how all of your free and thrifted decor came together on your piano for this beautiful vignette!

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

It’s fun to style something totally different:) And yes, moody without being overtly Halloween; you described it perfectly!

  9. No I have never heard of it but from what you said, yours so pretty and very interesting. I loved the old picture of Jesus. I do collect old church songbooks.

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

I love those old church hymnals and songbooks; great collection!

  10. Ok wow! I had never heard of this before and was so intrigued and you explained it so well! I love how it all came together and your explanation was so helpful. Beautiful use of the Bibles and hymnal and all of your sentimental music decor as well. So well done my friend!

    1. Lora Bloomquist says:

Thanks, Kelly! These challenges always push my styling boundaries and are so fun:)

  11. Looks really beautiful Lora, I’m glad you used the piano to try this look out!

It was the darkest spot in my house, Tania. Thanks for the inspiration!
